~ DISTRIBUTION, CLEARANCE & CARRIAGE ~

MGM is quickly selling its MGM Prime-Time Sunday Movie package to The CW affiliates. The movie package is secured in 65% of the US on Tribune Broadcasting Company-owned CW stations in addition to other broadcast groups with CW stations including Sunbeam TV Corporation, Capitol Broadcasting Company, Gray Television Inc., Freedom Communication, Inc. and the CW Plus station group. MGM began programming the 8-10p Sunday slot on CW affiliates last fall. MGM will offer an upgraded library of titles such as Legally Blonde, Overboard and four James Bond films.

mun2, the lifestyle network targeting Latinos 18-34, announced its distribution is now at 30.4 million US households as of this month, based on data from Nielsen.

DISH Network Corporation made a long-term deal with Racetrack Television Network and HorseRacing TV to offer a monthly subscription racing package. The package, Racetrack Television Network offered to DISH Network subscribers will include nearly 80 channels of live racing with racetracks having their own dedicated channels. Each live simulcast feed will offer complete wagering information, paddock shots and post parades.

~ PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT ~

As part of its overall deal with CBS, Katalyst Media and CBS Television Distribution (CTD) are teaming to develop a television series centered on the Blah Girls, online animated characters created by David & Goliath, Inc. The series premiered yesterday on CTD’s The Insider with one-minute interstitials where the three “girls” – Krystle, Tiffany and Britney dish on everything happening in Hollywood and today’s pop culture. The series will also air on TheInsider.com, where fans can watch the episodes, leave comments and interact with the characters.

ABC is working with RDF USA and executive producer Tom Forman to adapt the reality format Find My Family, per Variety. A Dutch property currently airing in Australia, Find My Family is about people in search of long-lost friends or relatives. The series is expected to have just as much emotional impact as Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, Forman’s other series for ABC, with each episode relating multiple stories and viewers witnessing reunions. Tim Green, former pro NFL player and Lisa Joyner, entertainment TV reporter will co-host. ABC has not made a firm commitment to the show though is expected to make a decision in the next couple of months. Forman will executive produce through his own company, RelativityReal along with RDF’s Greg Goldman, Chris Coelen and Tony Yates; Julie Laughlin-Jones also serves as executive producer.

Scottish actor David Tennant, known for playing the title role in the BBC sci-fi series Doctor Who, will become the new host of PBS’ Masterpiece Contemporary, reports THR. Masterpiece Contemporary begins this October with Endgame, a drama starring William Hurt and Jonny Lee Miller that made its debut at Sundance Film Festival this year.

Casting Call: FOX’s original dance show, So You Think You Can Dance will host auditions for the series’ sixth season beginning May 28 in Boston at Hyatt Regency Boston; June 1 in Atlanta at Woodruff Arts Center; June 12 in Los Angeles at the Orpheum Theatre; and July 24 in Salt Lake City (venue TBA). Additional audition cities and venues will be announced at a later date. Interested candidates should be at least 18 years old and not older than 30 years old on the first day of audition registration. Participants who travel to cities for the open calls should plan on staying at least two days following their first audition in case of a callback. For more information on the season six auditions, visit fox.com/dance. So You Think You Can Dance is a production of 19 Entertainment, Ltd. and Dick Clark Productions. Season five debuts later this month on FOX over two nights on May 21 and 27 at 8p.

~ ELSEWHERE IN CYNOPSIS ~

CYNOPSIS DIGITAL – TODAY’S TOP STORY:  Fiercely independent (and famously altruistic) online classified service Craigslist announced it will remove its “erotic services” category from its U.S. website next week after receiving increased pressure from law enforcement agencies. It is replacing it with a new “adult services” category where listings must be manually approved by Craigslist staffers. In Nov. 2008, Craigslist and the attorney generals of over 40 States struck a deal to implement new screening policies requiring telephone and credit card verification before users were allowed to post erotic services listings. But things came to head for Craig Newmark and his small staff after the alleged murder of a masseuse by a BU medical student – who police say was found through her Craigslist ad. CEO Jim Buckmaster pointed to research that Craigslist classifieds are associated with far lower rates of violent crime than traditional print ads in blog posting explaining the decision.   Full edition: CYN DIGITAL

CYNOPSIS KIDS – TODAY’S TOP STORY:  Warner Bros. and Silver Pictures have tapped Evan Daugherty to pen another draft of their feature film adaptation of Mattel’s He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, which is titled Grayskull, per THR.  John Stevenson (Kung Fu Panda) will direct the movie.  This is Daugherty’s first feature film, in fact his writing credits prior to this includes only an unproduced screenplay titled Shrapnel.  Justin Marks wrote the first version of the Grayskull movie script.
