Major League Baseball unveiled theme night initiatives that will be activated by the League and its Clubs during the 2020 season. Some of the properties include Star Wars, Game of Thrones, Sesame Street and WWE. Star Wars is one of MLB’s longest tenured theme night initiatives; the first Star Wars night at an MLB ballpark took place in 2009 at Dodger Stadium. All 30 Major League clubs have integrated Star Wars into a theme night or in-stadium giveaway. The collaboration continues next season, building off the release of “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker,” the final chapter in the Skywalker saga.
In 2020, MLB and Game of Thrones enter their fourth season of theme night initiatives. Attractions include fans taking photos on the Iron Throne and Game of Thrones-themed scoreboard content. In 2019, 21 Clubs activated in their ballparks around the series finale with MLB licensees such as New Era, Majestic and FOCO creating unique co-branded products.
