Julie Chen is leaving her post on CBS daytimer The Talk. In a taped message on yesterday’s show, just over a week after her husband, CBS CEO Les Moonves, exited the company amid allegations of sexual misconduct, Chen said she was leaving to spend more time with Moonves and their young son. Chen thanked her co-hosts, crew and viewers, adding, “I know this show and the sisterhood it stands for will continue for many, many years to come.”
In a statement, CBS said, “For eight seasons, Julie Chen has co-hosted The Talk with incredible energy, grace and professionalism.…All of us here have tremendous appreciation for the dedication and passion she brought to the show every day and for her generous role as an ambassador for CBS Daytime. We are grateful for her many other contributions, respect her decision and wish Julie all the best in everything she does.” Chen will remain as host of CBS’s Big Brother, which has its finale next week.
