Rand Harbert

For the second year in a row, the Cynopsis TV Awards honored excellence in national TV programming, from writing and directing to casting and hosting, recognizing outstanding achievement across teams and platforms. As part of the festivities, Cynopsis also presented the evening’s top honor, the 2018 Champion Award, to Rand Harbert, EVP & Chief Agency, Sales & Marketing Officer of State Farm. Close colleague and friend, Wendy Clark, CEO of DDB North America presented the award to Harbert.

With more than 25 years’ experience at State Farm, Harbert was recognized for leading a successful brand refresh with a positive message, “Here to help life go right,” that broke out of the clutter and repositioned the insurer as a company that offers a breadth of services to improve people’s lives. Harbert was also honored for his part in inspiring good works with the company’s “Neighborhood of Good” platform, an effort that encourages and facilitates volunteerism by connecting consumers with charitable opportunities in their towns. Harbert has served as Chairman of the Board of Teach for America, Inc. and as a Member of the California Chamber of Commerce and the Eureka College Board of Trustee of Eureka, Illinois.

As a long-time State Farm employee, Harbert worked in various positions before assuming the role he holds today. He was appointed as an agency field executive in Chicago in 1999 and vice president-securities at Corporate Headquarters in 2001. Harbert was selected as vice president-agency for the Texas Zone in 2003, and named agency vice president in the Northeast Zone in 2005. He was appointed senior vice president in California in 2007, and president and chief executive officer of State Farm General Insurance Company in 2008. He was named to the Chairman’s Council in 2011, and was appointed to his current role in 2013.
