HITN Grows In Brooklyn

What prompted Spanish-language public broadcast network HITN to expand its headquarters in Brooklyn, NY? “Our growth as an organization started four years ago when we determined that in order for HITN to remain a relevant source of smart programming for Hispanic families we would need to adapt to the evolving habits of ‘anytime, anywhere’ media consumption,” says Michael D. Nieves President and CEO of HITN. “I’m proud to say that these efforts have paid off.”

HITN now reaches 44 million households through its television station, and its new digital initiatives took HITN another step forward.  “We launched our HITN TV-everywhere app that includes live streams of our network and our top rated programs for on demand viewing,” says Nieves. “In addition, we now operate other digital properties each with a targeted mission driven purpose, including www.vidaysalud.com which provides health and wellness information from renowned medical professionals and Edye, HITN’s SVOD service that provides educational Spanish language programming for children.”

Operations grew to the point where HITN needed additional office space to accommodate its growing staff, as well as additional studio space.  “We are adding an additional 25,000 square feet of interior space and 15,000 square feet of rooftop studio space, affording us the necessary capacity to continue creating original content that is mission driven and specific to the needs of our viewers,” says Nieves. “And since Brooklyn has now replaced Manhattan as New York’s destination for media productions, it was only natural that our expansion occur at the Brooklyn Navy Yard.”
