Telemundo Deportes, streaming service ESPN+ to kick off Copa America coverage
The hugely successful Cope America Centenario handed Univision with a social win, bolstered by a strategy designed to answer three key questions every soccer fan has during a big tournament: Who is playing today, at what time and where can I watch it? In addition to answering those questions via scheduled posts, the company leverage coverage to showcase important moments from team warm-ups and on through to post-game analysis and highlights. Overall, Univision aired more than 611 minutes of Facebook Live video from warm-up sessions at different stadiums throughout the tournament, with on-air talent providing their expert analysis each match day. On Twitter, the company tweeted every 15 minutes starting early morning and continuing until 3AM the next day. Results saw social media driving 47% of the traffic, which resulted in over 2.7 million unique visitors to the website – the highest number of the year.
