The FIFA Women’s World Cup continues to show gains with this year’s tournament. FOX Sports reports that through the first day of the round of 16, the company’s metered market scores are up 17% over the equitable day in 2015. Norway’s penalty kick win over Australia drew a 1.6/4 to rank as the best numbers of the 2019 tournament for a non-US contest.
Meanwhile, Telemundo Deportes’ coverage of Women’s World Cup also saw upticks in the Group Stage. Through the 36 Group Stage matches that aired across Telemundo, Universo and Telemundo Deportes and NBC Sports app, the network scored a Total Audience Delivery average of 194,000 viewers, up 50% increase from the 2015 Group Stage average of 129,000 (excluding 2015 Mexico matches, as that team didn’t qualify for this year’s event). Last week’s USA/Sweden scored a Total Audience Delivery average of 422,000 viewers.
In addition, NBCSN, for the first time ever, will simulcast in Spanish two knockout phase matchups beginning today with team USA’s matchup against Spain at 11:30a, followed by Canada/Sweden at 2:30p. Both matches will also air on Telemundo and Universo respectively.
