.Discovery Networks named Vera Buzanello as Executive Vice President General Manager of Discovery Networks Iberia, responsible for Spain and Portugal. Her new role as General Manager is focused on defining and implementing the growth strategy of Discovery Networks in the region, which includes 7 channels.
Sidney Kimmel Entertainment hired Mark O’Connor as EVP Production. O’Connor most recently was a senior exec at Todd Phillips’ Warner Bros-based Green Hat Films.
Discovery Communications appointed Dominic Baillie as Chief Technology Officer, Olympics & Sports, and Simon Farnsworth as SVP, Olympic Technical Distribution. Both will work across Discovery’s international portfolio of channels and digital products including both Eurosport and Eurosport Player. Baillie was CTO at Sky News Arabia; Farnsworth most recently was CEO of Globecast Australia.
Turner Ad Sales elevated Todd Braverman to SVP, portfolio sales and client partnerships, a new role developed out of Donna Speciale’s realignment in December. He previously was VP/sales manager of the Turner Emerging Consumers sales division.
Allison Clarke has expanded her scope of responsibility at AMC Networks to include oversight of ad sales for both WE tv and IFC. As SVP of advertising sales for WE tv and IFC, she will oversee a combined ad sales team supporting both networks.
Clarke joined AMC Networks in 2008.
The Daily Show With Trevor Noah added NY-based writer and standup comic Michelle Wolf as an on-air contributor and writer. Wolf most recently was a writing supervisor on Late Night with Seth Meyers, on which she has appeared, along with stints on Comedy Central.
Longtime casting directors Brandi Brice and Dana Gergely of Brice/Gergely Casting have made the transition to agent-hood. The two joined the Osbrink Agency’s Adult Television and Film Department. Their credentials include MTV, Disney, E!, Fox, MTV and Nickelodeon.
MinorityVR appointed Gary R. Carter, former co-CEO at Endemol Shine Group, and COO/CCO at Fremantlemedia Group, as senior creative and strategic advisor.
Jason Kurtz joins NBCUniversal Domestic Television Distribution‘s new daytime show, Harry, starring Harry Connick Jr., as executive producer. Previously, Kurtz served as an executive producer of the Harry pilot, and most recently as co-executive producer for NBCU’s Steve Harvey.
Mediaocean, software provider for the advertising industry, hired Ramsey McGrory as chief revenue officer. McGrory most recently was president of Scout Media.
Charlotte Thorp was named Lionsgate UK Senior Vice President and Head of Television Sales for the European Market. Previously, Thorp was SVP, Head of Fil & TV Sales for eOne Film UK and eOne Television International.
Pop has promoted several executives in its Los Angeles and New York offices on the heels of its rebrand: Nicole Sabatini as Executive Vice President, Marketing; Michelle Habel as Senior Vice President, Business and Legal Affairs; Michael Rissetto as Senior Vice President, Ad Sales Pricing and Planning; and Hillary Povar as Vice President, Communications.
Ipsos appointed Joe Marshall as President of Ipsos Marketing Quantitative in the U.S. Previously, Marshall was head of IMQ in the UK.
BBC Worldwide North America has named Sergei Kuharsky as Senior Vice President, Strategy and Business Development. Kuharsky was previously at Scripps Networks Interactive, where he served as General Manager for Food Network.
The SIM Group has upped two senior executives. Chris Parker will serve as Chief Business Development Officer, and Bill DeRonde will act as President of Post Production.
Tobin Kirk has joined entertainment brand consultancy and marketing innovations agency Troika as Managing Executive Producer. He had been an executive producer and producer at Blind Inc.
