ONE World Sports announced that the channel will no longer be available on DISH and its Sling platform, announcing that it would now extend its five-year deal with the company after talks fell through. In a statement, the channel noted that it was seeking carriage in a domestic sports package, and in HD across all of its platforms, rather than continue to be packaged as an ethnic channel and in SD.
“The decision is largely driven by DISH’s desire for certain MFN provisions, which limit a network’s ability to expand in a rapidly changing marketplace,” the company said. “With an insistence on MFN terms that were imbalanced relative to the network’s carriage, our preference was to provide another in a series of short-term extensions while we worked through a new agreement reflecting our limited availability to DISH subscribers. Regrettably, DISH declined an extension, and we were forced to make the difficult decision to discontinue carriage with DISH at this time.”
