Grammy fans were not amused when CBS’s coverage of the PGA Tour’s Farmer’s Insurance Open ran long on Sunday, eating into the Grammys red carpet show. With the Open in a 3-way playoff, CBS stuck with golf 38 minutes after red carpet coverage was slated to start – leaving just 22 minutes for fashion chat. Before picking up new Grammys, Kendrick Lamar started the awards show off strong with a performance, with U2’s Bono and Edge and comedian Dave Chappelle, that included dancers in hoodies who fell to the ground as Lamar rapped. “I just wanted to remind the audience that the only thing more frightening than watching a black man being honest in America, is being an honest black man in America,” said Chappelle, who later won the comedy album Grammy (runners-up were awarded consolation puppies).
More highlights from the Grammys: Bruno Mars grabbed 7 awards, including Album of the Year. “Thank you guys for blessing the world with your music,” he told his fellow nominees. “You’re the reason I’m in the studio pulling my hair out.” … Artists including Cher, Snoop Dogg and John Legend auditioned to voice the audiobook for Donald Trump expose “Fire & Fury.” In the skit, Hillary Clinton wins the gig. (Tweeted Donad Trump Jr. in response: “Getting to read a #fakenews book excerpt at the Grammys seems like a great consolation prize for losing the presidency.”)….”Time’s up” said Lady Gaga at the close of her performance (many attendees wore white roses in support of the movement)…. Bono was among those keeping the censors hopping, saying “Blessed are the s***hole countries, for they gave us the American dream.”
