Hours after accusing former president Barack Obama of wiretapping Trump Tower, President Trump took aim at his Celebrity Apprentice successor on Saturday. “Arnold Schwarzenegger isn’t voluntarily leaving the Apprentice, he was fired by his bad (pathetic) ratings, not by me.” Schwarzenegger had said he was washing his hands of the NBC competition due to Trump, attributing the show’s low ratings (under 4 million viewers) to POTUS. “When people found out that Trump was still involved as executive producer and was still receiving money from the show, then half the people [started] boycotting it,” Schwarzenegger told Empire. (Social media’s anti-Trump campaign #grabyourwallet was one outlet asking viewers and sponsors to steer clear of the show.) Lobbed back Schwarzenegger, “You should think about hiring a new joke writer and a fact checker.” No word on whether NBC had planned, or now plans, to renew the reality show.
