Awesomeness TV is pretty confident in the direction it’s been heading in. At its NewFront presentation, the Gen Z-oriented digital media company announced renewals for five of its series: Freakish, which runs on Hulu, Foursome, which runs on YouTube Red, Guidance, which runs on Verizon’s Go90, t@gged (also Go90), and The Commute, which runs on AwesomenessTV’s own platforms. In addition, the company said that its new feature film, the Nash Grier-starring thriller You Got Me, will hit Netflix exclusively on June 16. The company also presented a first look at Zac and Mia, a cancer-themed drama series that will land on Go90 later in 2017. In another big announcement, the company said that it’s launching Awesomeness News, a cross-platform news division focused on social justice and politics. (Naturally, it’ll be geared toward a Gen Z audience.) And this being 2017 and all, AwesomenessTV announced plans to get in on the skinny bundle phenomenon: The company will launch a new channel, made up of its most premium content, that will run across OTT TV services like DirectTV Now and YouTube TV. Finally, the company announced a major new hire: Carrie Franklin will succeed Sarah Penna to head up Awestruck, AwesomenessTV’s division directed toward millennial moms. An Emmy-nominated producer and showrunner, Franklin has worked on shows like The Girls Next Door and Ruby.
