The Madison Square Garden Company notified the SEC of its plan to spin off its entertainment business with an eye to focus on sports. The move would be complete in the first quarter of 2020, with the Dolan family, overseeing both entities once completed. In addition to the Knicks and Rangers, the sports-centric company’s portfolio would also include Knicks Gaming, the official NBA 2K esports franchise of the New York Knicks, as well as a majority interest in Counter Logic Gaming, as well as the company’s pro sports team Training Center.
The entertainment spinoff would house venues that include Madison Square Garden, Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden, Radio City Music Hall and Beacon Theatre, the Forum in Inglewood and the Chicago Theater in addition to the upcoming MSG Sphere in Las Vegas, among other businesses.
