Major League Soccer is the Audi MLS Cup playoffs an overhaul, announcing Monday that next season will expand the postseason and now offer a fixed-bracket, single-elimination format with the higher seed hosting every match. 2019 will see 14 of the league’s 24 teams qualify for the postseason, with one team per conference now getting a first-round bye, while the higher-seeded clubs will host all matches. In addition, there will be no reseeding after upsets. The postseason will kick off in 2019, on Oct. 19 with MLS Cup taking place on Nov. 10 with the regular season launching March 2.
