The hammer fell for Clippers owner Donald Sterling, as NBA Commissioner Adam Silver announced a lifetime ban for the team owner and a fine of $2.5 million. Silver also stated that he would look to have the other owners force a sale of the team immediately. In addition, Silver urged Clippers sponsors to return to the fold, after a slew of brands withdrew support for the team following Sterling’s comments. “I would say those marketing partners of the Clippers and partners of the entire NBA should judge us by our response to this incident, and I think we’ve responded appropriately, and I would be hopeful that they would return into their business relationships with the Clippers,” Silver said at the press conference.
