Hallmark Channel is expanding its slate with reality series Meet the Peetes, chronicling the lives of Holly Robinson Peete (21 Jump Street) and her husband, former NFL star Rodney Peete. Tremendous! Entertainment is producing. (The couple knows what they’re getting into – they starred on OWN docu-series For Peete’s Sake.) “We’re excited to move into primetime, unscripted programming and we know our viewers will embrace the Peetes’ story and fall in love with them as much as we have,” said Michelle Vicary, EVP, programming and network publicity, Crown Media Family Networks. Production begins this fall for a February 2018 premiere.
Does Univision Communications have a buyer? Spanish-language media company Hemisphere Media, private-equity firm Platimum Equity and former Viacom Inc. CFO Wade Davis have all expressed interest in acquiring the company, reports the Wall Street Journal. In July, Univision said its board was “reviewing strategic options.”
Former Starz CEO Chris Albrecht has taken a stake in a production company working in the global TV market that’s majority owned by Legendary. Legendary recently has been bolstering its television development, and having Albrecht—and his contacts on the production and talent side— is expected to boost the team. Albrecht left Starz in February.
