FOX Sports locked in programming for the upcoming FIFA Women’s World Cup, which kicks off in two weeks. The slate of matches will include 16 games airing live on FOX broadcast network with all 52 games running live from six cities across Canada on company platforms between June 6 and July 5. FOX’s broadcasts will include five in primetime (including US group stage games versus Sweden on June 12 and Nigeria on June 16), and include one semifinal, the third-place match on July 4 and final on July 5. Meanwhile, FOX Sports 1 serves up 29 matches, including all eight in the round of 16, two quarterfinals and one semifinal. The remaining seven games will head to FOX Sports 2. Leading-off coverage will be the FIFA Women’s World Cup Special, a one-hour preview show on June 5 at 7:30p on FOX Sports 1.
The company will see FOX Sports GO offer viewers three alternate streams during the tournament. The first, Match 360, gives fans backstage access to the walk players take from locker room to field and pregame warmups before every game, in-progress highlights throughout matches and post-match press conferences. A second feed offers a non-stop, in-game view from the tactical cameras showing all 22 players, while the third feed comes directly from cable-cam as it flies above the field during play.
Meanwhile, Telemundo revealed plans to showcase 10 matches in Spanish, including the opening game, all three group matches for Mexico and the final. Sister channel NBC Universo will air an additional 21 games live, including all three US group games, while all games will be streamed online.
