NASCAR is expected to formally unveil a charter system today. The “major NASCAR announcement” should see details of a new system designed to offer owners a deeper financial position in the sport with early reports suggesting that 36 charters would be guaranteed a spot in each race. Speaking of NASCAR, FOX Sports detailed its tech plans for the upcoming Daytona 500. This year will see the company utilize immersive 3D graphics for its telecast, giving reporters the ability to point out the features of a racecar in augmented reality through the virtual version of the cutaway car. Other broadcast components will include virtual graphics, super motion and higher frame rates, a new lens and positions for the Gopher Cam, as well as ground cam positioning and the Gyro-Cam.
