Tiger is back and ESPN will showcase every minute of it at The Open Championship, creating a feed on ESPN3 that will follow Woods making his first start of the year in a major. Overall, ESPN is slating 65 total hours on television for the tournament, spanning July 17-20. ESPN and WatchESPN will have 11 scheduled hours of live play from the first two rounds on Thursday and Friday from 4a-3p. The third round on Saturday, July 19, will run from 7a-2:30p with the final round on Sunday spanning 6a-1:30p. Paul Azinger serves as lead analyst for ESPN’s four-day coverage of Open Championship live play, joining anchor Mike Tirico. Ian McShane again lends his voice to ESPN’s Open Championship scene-setting interstitial videos.
Joining the Tiger Woods feed on ESPN3 will be four other options, including a feed that will feature live play on the 13th, 14th and 15th holes at Royal Liverpool, a Spanish-language feed as well as an International View from the BBC/World coverage. The fifth feed will be @TheOpen Live, an “outside the ropes” presentation covering the general atmosphere of the event that also includes fan interviews and news conferences.
