Adblock sold to anonymous buyer, opts in to Acceptable Ads program

Adblock (not to be confused with its rival, Adblock Plus) has been sold. Michael Gundlach, the founder of the well-known ad-blocking extension for Chrome and Safari, made the announcement to users via pop-up. The price wasn’t mentioned, nor was the name of the buyer, who reportedly requested anonymity. Gundlach’s pop-up announced another significant development: Adblock will opt in to the Acceptable Ads program, already used by Adblock Plus. Using strict guidelines, the program pinpoints ads not deemed intrusive or annoying, and allows them to be shown. Users, however, can still disable the feature and banish all ads.
