About the Role

 

 

Searching for a creative marketing spirit with 10+ years to convey WHYY’s mission. This role requires sophisticated scripting and production editing abilities, deep technical and project management skills as well as advanced animation skills. As a team member, you’ll also contribute to department-wide initiatives including marketing planning and fundraising.

 

Responsible for overseeing the creation of audio/video broadcast and digital/social media promotional spots, including station branding, TV and FM program branding, event, sponsorship and community engagement spots along with station ID/show billboards. Comfortable with short turnaround times and multi-level approval processes. Must excel in Adobe Creative Suite, AVID software, motion graphics or similar; knowledge of audio and video editing systems is required.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Produce best-in-class promotional spots, accurately reflecting WHYY’s brand mission, from strategy through management approvals.

  • Write killer scripts for audio and video to engage audiences.

  • Organize promotional spot production schedule for video and audio spots needed for TV, FM, digital and social platforms.

  • Come up with fun, new promotional spot ideas to drive WHYY’s initiatives.

  • Experience in writing innovative :60, :30 and :15 video and audio promotional spots representing the station and individual program brands.

  • Contribute to the placement strategy of TV and radio spots.

  • Schedule and coordinate video and audio shoot date logistics.

  • Ingest TV spots by deadlines, ensuring all spots meet technical requirements of centralized trafficking system.

  • Become proficient with traffic system operation and processes, ultimately becoming the system expert.

  • Mentor fellow producers to elevate skills with spot creation strategy, scripting, editing and spot technical requirements.

  • Understand and adhere to public media guidelines.

  • Execute reports that show the value of the team’s efforts – quantity and impact

  • 24-hour emergency contact for audio/video promotion spot issues

  • Some nights and weekends.
