The IRONMAN World Championship leveraged the power of 2,300 athletes embarking on a 140.6-mile journey with the paradise of Kailua-Kona to set new social records for this year’s event. Created and pushing out content across Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, the staple event saw more than 20 million people reached across the three social platforms, with nearly 500,000 engagements across the channels. Facebook Live, meanwhile, garnered 1.2 million views of the company’s live videos, while the annual “Underwear Run” live video had 4,000 people watching live for more than 30 minutes, including Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg.
