Lauren Goodson, Vice President, Animal Planet & Science Channel
Lauren Goodson was named Vice President of research in 2011, overseeing all research efforts for Animal Planet and Science Channel. Goodson is responsible for designing and implementing research studies to strengthen brand loyalty and visibility and guide strategies for programming and content development. Goodson has been integral to the success of popular programs River Monsters, Whale Wars, Puppy Bowl and Treehouse Masters. Her role also requires her to analyze consumer and marketplace trends to inform long-range network strategy and opportunities for growth.
While serving as Senior Director of research for Animal Planet, Goodson directed projects that were integral to the 2008 re-launch of the network, which included a new programming vision and logo. She executed innovative primary research studies that delved into the needs and wants of viewers and shaped the “Surprisingly Human” tagline
Prior to joining Animal Planet, Goodson was a research strategist for Discovery Health Channel and Fit TV, where she utilized Nielsen and primary research tools to develop insights about the audience and programming. Goodson began her career at Discovery Communications, Inc. as a cross-networks analyst, tracking the ratings performance and trends of shows across all of the Discovery networks
Goodson received her bachelor’s degree from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s School of Journalism & Mass Communication. She currently resides in Arlington, Virginia with her husband and two children.
