UNC-TV is actively seeking qualified candidates for a Social Media Manager in the Marketing Communications division. This manager is a vital leader on the Digital Marketing team, supervising one permanent position, and is responsible for UNC-TV’s social media strategy with the goal of building and sustaining an engaged audience and member base across social media platforms. This highly collaborative role will work with content, creative services, marketing, and development teams to create and maintain an editorial and promotions calendar. This role will develop and implement social media campaigns to increase and build brand awareness and loyalty, increase donations to UNC-TV, drive audience engagement, and strengthen multi-platform viewership of UNC-TV programming. This position is responsible for measuring and analyzing social media performance, making strategic decisions for campaign growth, and providing staff training and guidance on social media best practices. The Social Media Manager will provide leadership and direction for all social media platforms and efforts utilizing audience analytics and research to ensure effective engagement and marketing strategies are utilized in a comprehensive manner. He or she should demonstrate a strong command of social media management experience developing and executing social media marketing strategy, preferably at a marketing/creative agency, or within the entertainment industry.
Minimum requirements include a
bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment, or equivalent combination of training and experience.

The Specialist, Digital and Social Media, is responsible for conceiving and publishing best-in-class digital and social content experiences for TLC and Discovery Life. This person will work within a small team to implement effective, innovative and influential social media strategies that are aligned with the network’s target brand voice and show priorities. He or she will report to the Director, Multi-Platform Strategy and Digital Media.
He or she will coordinate the entire project lifecycle and create high-quality content that engages and entertains our fans while meeting growth and engagement goals. The Coordinator will work closely across various teams to ensure online content extends the brand, communicates a coherent message in sync with network initiatives, and drives viewers across key social platforms (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube) and O&O platforms (TLCme.com, TLC GO). The goal of this role is to create social and digital content that extends the brand, communicates a coherent message in sync with network initiatives, and drives viewers across all owned and operated platforms. A love of all things lifestyle and TLC is paramount.
Please note this position will be in Silver Spring, Maryland or New York City, NY.
1. Promote TLC’s programming slate using engaging social media content, campaigns, and online events 2. Build awareness, buzz and affinity for TLC on social media 3. Serve as the digital media expert for assigned shows and be responsible for publishing all content onto digital/social platforms around those shows, including live events and after-hours programming 4. Craft original content for TLCme in support of linear priorities 5. Build partnerships with Marketing, Press, Talent, Video Production, and Show Production departments to leverage all digital resources and assets 6. Collect data and evaluate digital and social successes and trends 7. Discover new social trends and research audience preferences 8. Stay current with changes on all social platforms 9. Support Manager, Digital Media and Director, Digital Media and the rest of the Multi-Platform team in day-to-day needs
Bachelor’s degree in New Media, Journalism, Communication or related field * 3+ years of experience in social media marketing, community management and fan engagement at a media/entertainment company, agency, or brand * Able to work a flexible schedule to support key events and social activities (ex: live tweeting) * Actively involved in the social media space with a proven understanding of how to use social platforms to engage and build audiences and interpret metrics * Must possess fluency in major social platforms’ best practices, including YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, and Twitter, working knowledge of secondary platforms (Tik Tok, Tumblr, Pinterest) and a keen eye for emerging platforms and trends * Demonstrable experience identifying and creating socially shareable content that is on-brand * Proficiency with MS Office suite and Adobe Creative Suite * Proficiency in online tracking/reporting tools (ex: Google Analytics, Facebook Insights), online content management and publishing systems (ex: Khoros), and social listening tools (ex: Listen First, Netbase)

Reporting to Sr. Director, Project Management, this position will primarily be responsible for the project management of the work created for the Nickelodeon brand social, YouTube, and interactive content platforms. This will entail partnering with both internal and external clients, strategy, briefing and creative teams throughout the entire life cycle of the project – from content ideation and strategy, through briefing, kickoffs, production, approvals, and delivery. The manager will serve as the central point of contact for the projects they are assigned, providing clear and concise planning and communication to all involved stakeholders. They will be expected to work independently and proactively while using a variety of management styles and techniques.
Understand business goals and objectives of each assignment, and identify optimal processes and procedures to ensure successful outcomes of the projects
Serve as the primary point of contact for platform strategy (YouTube/Social/Interactive), Marketing, Creative, Design, as well as external stakeholders and clients
Proactively partner with internal clients to ensure strategy and briefing assignments are accurate and are in line with agreed-upon timelines
Receive, verify, distribute and kick off all briefs and assignments in a timely manner
Drive projects forward, ensuring clear, on-going and transparent communication among cross-functional teams and partners throughout the life cycle of a project
Partner with production and design teams on appropriate team assignments
Create actionable schedules for each piece of creative briefed, track progress against schedule and communicate follow-ups and adjustments as needed
Monitor project health, proactively problem-solving and communicating changes and status to teams
Anticipate, obtain and communicate stakeholder feedback and work with the teams to adjust or respond to feedback
Provide realistic budget-related feedback to scope or schedule creep
Identify and help implement new processes to further collaboration and efficiencies
Consistently evaluate processes and sequencing used, escalating challenges & proposing possible solutions
Update project management systems so projects are tracked and status is up to date
Minimum 2-4 years of project management or related operational or production experience in media or related field required
Experience, interest in and understanding of social platforms, trends, best practices and/or production processes of social media, digital design and video production
Bachelor’s degree required
Ability to manage a large number of tasks concurrently while performing well and calmly under pressure and still seeing the big picture.
Familiarity with project and production management tools (e.g. Microsoft Office, AirTable, Jira, ShowManager, Media Silo, Basecamp) or similar
Exceptional communication skills including written and verbal communication
Organized, accurate, detail- and deadline-oriented
Articulate, flexible, collaborative, and approachable
Strong leadership, diplomacy and negotiation skills
