Because so many fans think of professional athletes as superheroes, MLS fans were asked to weigh in on what made the World Cup bound players such as Clint Dempsey, Michael Bradley, Omar Gonzalez and others “super” in their own right.
Illustrators and influencers from Snapchat and Vine then depicted the players in comic book form using that content. Illustrations were shared and assets were re-mixed for additional exposure, including GIFs for Tumblr).
The Results: MLS saw a growth of 82K new fans across their channels, garnering 143K engagements (likes, favorites, RTs, shares) and yielding 32M total potential impressions. The #MLSSuperHeroes-specific Snapchats received 11.5K views and the Vines resulted in 4.8M loops.
