NBCUniversal is grouping USA, Syfy, Chiller and Cloo in a new Entertainment Networks group, headed by USA president Chris McCumber, who will become president of the division. David Howe will leave his post as Syfy president to become president, strategy and commercial growth. All original scripted programming for NBCU Cable Entertainment will be centralized and run by Bill McGoldrick, EVP, scripted content. In an internal memo, NBCUniversal Cable chairman Bonnie Hammer said the restructuring allows the company “to function nimbly and without redundancy.” In 2014, the company’s Bravo, E!, Esquire and Oxygen were similarly packaged, as the Lifestyles Networks group.

Bryan Fuller, who launched his career writing for Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Star Trek: Voyager, is returning to the TV franchise as co-creator and executive producer of the new CBS Star Trek series. Produced by CBS Television Studios, the show will launch with a special preview in early 2017. The premiere episode and all subsequent first-run episodes will then be available exclusively in the U.S. on CBS All Access, the net’s digital subscription VOD and live streaming service.

WE tv is celebrating Black History Month with a new educational section on its website and a series of 30-second public service announcements on the net and online featuring members of Congress sharing stories and perspectives on the importance of the month. The company is set to break ground on a 450,000 sq. ft. “built to suit” facility on approximately 21 acres at NW 25th Street and the Florida Turnpike. NBCUniversal and parent company Comcast will invest more than $250 million in the construction of the headquarters, which will bring all of the division’s offices, broadcast and production operations under one roof, including Telemundo Network, Telemundo Studios, Telemundo International and cable network NBC UNIVERSO and its digital media operations.
