Skateboarding icon Tony Hawk will serve as the host for Cartoon Network‘s first Hall of Game Awards, which will air on the network, Friday, February 25, 2011 at 7p. Created and produced in association with IMG Media, the production arm of IMG, the Cartoon Network Hall Of Game Awards is multiplatform event that invites kids to go online and vote for their favorite sports stars and sports moments of the last year. The special is executive produced by Michael Dempsey and Steve Mayer, with SI Kids, part of The Sports Illustrated Group, serving as the official media partner. Kids are invited to log onto HallofGame.com ( www.hallofgame.com ), which is live now, and vote in seven categories (additional categories and nominees will be announced soon). Some of the categories have their own media sponsors, such as Most Awesome Mascot, is sponsored by Pepperidge Farm Goldfish, and That’s How I Roll, is sponsored by Kids Foot Locker.

Sony Pictures Animation acquires a movie pitch (untitled) from director Kevin Lima (Enchanted) and writer David Sussman, per Variety. The mixed live-action and CGI movie is described as similar to Alice in Wonderland, and is based on an idea from art director Michael Karinsky.
YTV (Canada) orders up another 14 episodes of the animated comedy Almost Naked Animals from 9 Story Entertainment. Almost Naked Animals (40×22) premiered earlier this month on YTV. Almost Naked Animals revolves around a group of underwear-clad animals that run a beachfront hotel and are always looking for fun in everything. The top dog/hotel manager, Howie, who has the attention span of an 11-year-old gamer, leads the pack.
Sesame Workshop‘s series Sesame Street returns to TV in New Zealand, when the series debuts on channel Four, which features a new look, on February 7. The series will broadcast twice daily on Four at 6a and 2p. Four is part of MediaWorks TV, which is owned by MediaWorks NZ.

MARKETING/LICENSING Oceanhouse Media releases a new digital book, Dr. Seuss’s 1965 book Fox in Socks, for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. This is the mobile app publisher’s 16th Dr. Seuss digital book, which plans to release apps for all 44 classic Dr. Seuss book titles. Next up is I Can Read With My Eyes Shut!, which release early next month. The Fox in Socks app offers three options, auto play, read to me, and read it myself. Additional features include picture/word association, where words zoom up and are spoken when pictures are touched; individual words are highlighted and are read aloud when tapped; professional audio narration; custom background audio for each scene; and the original text and artwork of Dr. Seuss.

Little Airplane Productions names Tom Brown as VP/Production and Operations. In his new position, Brown will build strategic partnerships for Little Airplane and the Little Light Foundation in the areas of sponsorships, publishing, licensing, games, international co-productions and feature films. Brown, who joined the company in 2002, most recently served as Producer and Head of Production, overseeing development and production on many of Little Airplane’s series and also established its non-profit Little Light Foundation.

Marvel Entertainment ups TQ Jefferson to VP/Production, Games. He will report to Ira Rubenstein, EVP/Global Digital Media Group. Jefferson will oversee development of all Marvel games across all platforms, working together with Marvel’s interactive partners throughout the production process. He will bring together key talent with Marvel’s interactive partners, and will also coordinate efforts with Marvel Studios and other producers of movies based on Marvel characters. Jefferson began his career as Quality Assurance tester at Activision where he worked his way up through the ranks, eventually serving as a producer. Prior to Marvel, he spent two years at Pixar Animation as Sr. Interactive Manager.
Disney Channel‘s live-action series Hannah Montana came to a close after four seasons and 100+ episodes with the debut of the series on Sunday, January 16, 7-8p, which drew 6.2 million Total viewers. The series finale was the top program in its time period among K6-11 (2.1 million) and Tweens 9-14 (2.0 million). The episode was also Disney Channel’s highest rating ever in the hour with Total Viewers and K6-11. Season four, titled Hannah Montana Forever, was the network’s most watched season of the Hannah Montana series with Total Viewers, K6-11 and Tweens 9-14.
