UPFRONT 2010: THE WEATHER CHANNEL
For its upfront, The Weather Channel (TWC) introduces four new original series with all shedding new light on the weather.
• Lightning Rod - Hour-long primetime series hosted by TWC meteorologist Mark Elliot offers an entertaining bent on weather news and climate change. Viewers will have the chance to interact via Twitter, Facebook, email, phone or Skype. Premieres June 2010 and airs Monday-Thursday at 10p.
• Storm Riders - Series follows two storm chasers as they hunt for supercells. Series will launch this September though will have a special preview air during Tornado Week.
• Weather: Caught on Camera - Meteorologist Mike Bettes will host this show featuring intense and crazy weather caught on videotape from around the country. Premieres 4Q 2010
• Forensic Weather - Series will focus on how weather can affect a crime investigation using the skills of forensic meteorologists. Set to launch 1Q 2011.
TWC brings back two other series to its schedule:
• Cantore Stories - Storm tracker Jim Cantore continues his global journey in search of extraordinary weather environments. New eps will debut throughout the year on Sunday nights.
• Weather Proof - Meteorologist Stephanie Abrams demonstrates new experiments involving extreme weather scenarios to test which products work and which ones fail against Mother Nature. New eps debut this third quarter.
