UPFRONT 2010: TELEMUNDO COMMUNICATIONS GROUP

Telemundo Communications Group introduced its 2010-2011 original programming line-up for Telemundo and mun2 at a press conference yesterday at The Modern in New York City.

New primetime programming for US Hispanics on Telemundo includes the following original novelas airing Monday-Friday:

    * El Fantasma de Elena (Elena's Ghost) - A story of a young and beautiful girl, Elena who manages a small but excellent hotel on the shore with her widowed father. Elena falls in love with Eduardo who washes ashore when his yacht is shipwrecked; ends up marrying him quickly and moves with him to his castle-like mansion where Elena discovers the ghost of Eduardo's first wife who was also named Elena.

    * Casanova Sin Amor (Loveless Casanova) - Light-hearted love story where the antagonist is also the protagonist. Juan Pablo, the rich owner of a private TV network wishes to find true love so he assumes the identity of a poor working man. After meeting Daniela, an aspiring actress, he moves into a house in a poor neighborhood next to her, keeping his true identity a secret for awhile.

    * A Corazon Abierto (An Open Heart) - Based on ABC's medical drama Grey's Anatomy, this Spanish-language adaptation is produced by Disney and stars famous talent from Colombia. The story is set in the surgical residency unit of the Hospital Universitario Santa Maria in a major metropolitan hospital where the resident's lives become intertwined as they begin their careers.

    * La Reina del Sur (The Queen of the South) - Original production based on the novel of the same name which has been published in 19 languages and sold in 30 countries. Mexican superstar actress Kate Del Castillo will portray Teresa Mendoza, who starts out as an innocent young girl from a small Mexican village who later becomes the most powerful woman in the world of narcotics trafficking in Europe.



mun2 presents two new series for the 2010-2011 season:

    * From Beyond - One-hour docu-series follows a team of paranormal investigators who search and document supernatural activity in Latino and urban communities.

    * Jenni Rivera Presents Chiquis and Raq-C - This series is about two young ambitious Latinas as they come into their own. One is Janney Marin, the eldest daughter of music legend, Jenni Rivera and known to her friends and family as "Chiquis" and Raquel "Raq-C" Cordova, Janney's best friend and a popular LA radio personality. Delia Hauser of Hauser Entertainment along with Jenni Rivera and mun2 are together producing this original series with Jenni Rivera serving as executive producer.
