UPFRONT 2010: TBS
Conan O'Brien performed yesterday at the Turner Upfront during TBS' portion held at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York. Other stars also made special appearances including George Lopez, Ice Cube, as well as a bevy of other celebrities. TBS' presentation began with a video of an overweight and bearded O'Brien and his slovenly between gig ways and then getting a call from TBS to join the network. O'Brien's new late-night show will premiere November 8 followed by Lopez Tonight.
TBS' schedule also consists of the original series My Boys, Are We There Yet? and the new animated series Neighbors From Hell. Recent announcements from TBS include nabbing the exclusive cable rights to the CBS comedy The Big Bang Theory beginning fall 2011 and the approval of the new original series Glory Daze (wt), a college comedy set in the 1980s headlined by Tim Meadows and produced by TBS Productions and Warner Horizon Television.
TBS has three one-hour scripted series in development:
• The Wedding Band - Comedy about four friends who all have day jobs and responsibilities and are also part of a wedding band. From FremantleMedia.
• The Rabbit Factory - Series centers on the detective team of Mike Lomax and Terry Biggs, characters from the book series by Marshall Karp. From Lionsgate Television.
• The Catch - A widower starts dating again and learns he is considered quite the catch. From executive producer/writer Vic Levin and executive producer Chris Albrecht.
TBS also serves up two animated series in development:
• Good and Evel - The ultimate dysfunctional family is depicted about Jack Good, a moral, upstanding family man and his rogue of a twin brother, Bo Evel a rebel and drunk who has been in and out of prison. Voice actors include Stanley Tucci and Steve Buscemi. From Olive Productions, Gotham Group and Lionsgate Television.
• The Black Family - Series about a blended interracial family, the Blacks. Executive producers on the project include Keenan Ivory Wayans, Marlon Wayans and Shawn Wayans.
