UPFRONT 2010: OWN: THE OPRAH WINFREY NETWORK
Yesterday, Oprah introduced the new original programming for OWN's January 1, 2011 launch at the network's upfront at New York's Jazz at Lincoln Center. "My vision for OWN is to create a network that inspires our viewers and makes them want to be who they are on their best day," said Oprah. Five new series were revealed adding to the ten previously announced series.

New OWN series:
•    Oprah's Next Chapter - Following the end of her 25-year daily syndicated show, The Oprah Winfrey Show, Oprah will carry on doing what she loves best in a new one-hour regular series. Oprah will have conversations with interesting people who the viewers want to know more about in sometimes very interesting places. Oprah will travel to the Great Wall in China and to India's Taj Mahal to have these conversations. Produced by Harpo Studios.

•    Visionaries: Inside the Creative Mind - The world's most creative and famous will take viewers inside their creative process. Featuring the likes of James Cameron to Lady Gaga to Annie Leibovitz. Produced by Radical Media.

•    Your Own Show: Oprah's Search for the Next TV Star (wt) - Oprah and reality TV producer Mark Burnett are teaming on this nationwide search to discover TV's next big star. Details about the show will be announced in May on The Oprah Winfrey Show. Mark Burnett Productions will produce.

•    Gayle King Live! - Oprah's best friend and Editor-At-Large for O, The Oprah Magazine, will bring her radio show to a daily one-hour television program.

•    Why Not? With Shania Twain - Country music superstar, Shania Twain opens up about her life-changing heartbreak and how she is coping in this one-hour series produced by Gay Rosenthal Productions with Gay Rosenthal executive producing.

 

Other previously-announced new series on OWN:
•    Behind the Scenes: The Oprah Winfrey Show Final Season - Docu-series goes inside for the first time into the inner workings of the daily syndicated show and as it concludes. Co-produced by Harpo Studios and Radical Media.

•    Breaking Down the Bars - One-hour series about women in prison who have a real shot at rehabilitation and atonement. 44 Blue Productions is producing.

•    Enough Already (formerly the Peter Walsh Project) - Peter continues his quest to help people declutter their lives. Discovery Studios produces the one-hour format.

•    In the Bedroom with Dr. Laura Berman - Sex therapist and relationship expert and Sirius XM radio show host, Laura Berman works with real couples and their relationships. One-hour format produced by Harpo Studios.

•    Inside with Lisa Ling - Lisa interviews and relates stories about people where most wouldn't dare venture from mail-order brides to American militias. One-hour format produced by Part2 Pictures.

•    Kidnapped by the Kids - Kids of work-aholic parents are in charge to reclaim time with their moms and dads. One-hour series from Love Productions.

•    The Miracle Detectives - Series explores amazing stories from the perspective of a believer and a skeptic who needs proof. One-hour format from Pilgrim Film & Television.

•    Oprah Presents: Master Class - Oprah handpicks today's intriguing people who will share their stories and insights from Bono to Simon Cowell to Toni Morrison. Produced by Radical Media.

•    The Swell Life - A look inside the life of competitive surfer, Izzy Paskowitz and his wife and kids, one of whom is autistic. 30m series produced by Snackaholic.

•    Searching - Search specialist and genealogist Pam Slaton helps people find lost loved ones. One-hour series from Stuart Krasnow Productions.
