UPFRONT 2012: Azteca America
Mexican network aimed at US Hispanic audiences, Azteca America offered up its 2012-2013 Upfront programming. Azteca America also plans on hi-def transmissions beginning May 31.
New programming includes new series, Fabrica de Huevos that combines animated sketches from the comedy movie from Mexico, Huevo Cartoons with live-action segments showing how Latinos live in America. The network serves up new comedy show, El Pelado de la Noche, a daily, late-night series combining stand-up, comedy sketches, music and interviews with a unique Azteca America flavor. Quiero Ser un Grupero is a competition reality series following a battle of the bands in the grupero genre of music. More grupero culture is presented in Echale Primo and Trayectoria al Exito. Another competition reality series is La Isla, where celebrity contestants use strategy and their wits to topple each other to become master of their domain and the last survivor. Azteca America has the following returning series: Extranormal, Al Extremo and the musical reality showLa Academia. In sports, the network holds the exclusive rights to air select soccer matches of the FLM soccer league, in addition to boxing in the US and Mexico as well as the network's newsmagazines Deporte Caliente and Antesala Deportiva. Mixed martial arts will also soon be joining Azteca America's lineup. And lastly, Azteca America's news division, Azteca Noticias with bureaus across the US and Mexico will present extra coverage in 2012 for the presidential elections in the US and Mexico.
