NFL Network is launching a new, live weekday morning show that will launch on July 30. The four-hour series, dubbed NFL AM, will run starting at 6a from Monday through Friday and “blanket the world of the NFL with seasoned and opinionated talent who will report and debate news and examine the personalities that play the game.” Talent is set to include Mark Kriegel from FOXSports.com, former San Francisco 49ers Super Bowl-winning cornerback Eric Davis, Brian Webber from FOX Sports Digital, Nicole Zaloumis from Comcast Sports Net-New England, and Steve Wyche from NFL Media. The show will be based at NFL Network’s Culver City, CA studios and also be streamed live on NFL Mobile only from Verizon.

On the Air For the 10th consecutive year, ESPN is set to televise live coverage of the 2012 NBA Draft Presented by State Farm, taking place Thursday, June 28, at 7p from the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ. Rece Davis is set to host coverage with Jay Bilas, Jeff Van Gundy, Chris Broussard, Andy Katz and Ric Bucher. In addition, Mark Jones will conduct interviews with Draftees once they’re announced and Heather Cox will interview players and their families in the NBA Draft green room. On ESPN Radio, the platform will offer nationally broadcast coverage of the draft with Marc Kestecher serving as host with analysts Will Purdue and Doug Gottlieb.
The BCS Presidential Oversight Committee is set to vote today on the newly proposed college football playoffs. Reportedly, the deal for the three games could be worth as much as $5 billion over the span of ten years, according to The Sporting News.
Euro 2012 continues to deliver for ESPN. The Italy/England contest on Sunday drew a 2.4 overnight rating, according to Nielsen, for a markup of 50% over comparable coverage in 2008.
NHL Network is set to simulcast this year’s Hockey Hall of Fame Inductee Announcement today at 3p, along with TSN2. The announcement will be made by Bill Hay, Hockey Hall of Fame CEO and Chairman of the Board, along with Co-Chairs of the Hockey Hall of Fame Selection Committee Jim Gregory and Pat Quinn. TSN’s Steve Kouleas hosts coverage.
The New Orleans Hornets and FOX Sports announced a long-term television rights agreement that establishes FOX Sports New Orleans as the new local television home of the team. Under the deal, the channel will offer around 75 regular-season Hornets games per season, including any games not selected for exclusive distribution by the NBA’s national TV partners. In addition, FOX also announced that the regional sports network that currently serves the New Orleans market (FOX Sports Southwest) will now be re-launched as “FOX Sports New Orleans” in October to coincide with the start of the Hornets’ 2012-13 season. FOX Sports New Orleans will become the 21st regional sports network in the FOX Sports Networks family.
ESPN will present X Games Los Angeles 2012 starting Thursday (a month earlier than usual) where they will celebrate 10 years of in Los Angeles with more than 200 athletes set to compete. ESPN, ESPN2 and ABC will combine to televise 21 hours of live X Games Los Angeles competition.
ION Television is partnering with WWE for a new weekly series entitled WWE Main Event that will launch on Oct. 3 and run on Wednesday nights at 8p. The one hour series marks the company’s return to broadcast television since Sept. 2010 when Smackdown left MyNetworkTV.
Outside Television announced a long-term programming partnership with Red Bull Media House that will cover original series, films and future productions involving Red Bull athletes and the pair’s complementary television, print, online, mobile and social media activities. The partnership will brings original adventure sports series Pushing Boundaries to the channel as well as a selection of Red Bull Media House films to the Outside Film Festival primetime block.
Golf Channel announced the lineup of guests to wrap up the second season of Feherty with a roster that includes two-time major champion Fuzzy Zoeller, a slew of patriotic stars for a special Independence Day show, as well as Hall-of-Fame player and commentator Peter Alliss, and John Daly.

With Firestone bowing out of the Super Bowl Halftime Show, Pepsi is set to enter the fray. The brand is locking in a deal to serve as the game’s halftime sponsor, according to SBJ.
The NBA detailed some sponsorship plans for the upcoming 2012 NBA Draft presented by State Farm, with eight partners activating during the coverage. Overall, sponsors are set to include Sprint, HP, Taco Bell, BBVA, Gatorade, American Express, adidas, and State Farm. Highlights are set to include: State Farm being prominently featured during the Draft throughout the arena and stage set up, during the live telecast on ESPN, throughout Draft coverage on NBA TV, on NBA.com, and on the NBA’s Facebook and Twitter social media channels; adidas and the NBA launching Official NBA Draft Hats; American Express hosting two exclusive experiences for their Cardmembers; the Sprint Media Day with Anthony Davis.
Universal Sports Network named Catherine Philbin as the channel’s Director of Public Relations where she will directly oversee all communications activities for Universal Sports and be responsible for managing the media relations strategy and overall PR activity for the network’s original shows. Most recently, Philbin served as Public Relations Director for FremantleMedia Enterprises.
Tony Stewart is now set to face Dale Earnhardt Jr. while Kasey Kahne squares off against Jeff Gordon in Round 4 of the “Drive for the Cover” campaign for NASCAR The Game: Inside Line thanks to balloting on NASCAR The Game’s Facebook page.
Online video technology company Ooyala announced that it is working with The All England Lawn Tennis Club and The Championships at Wimbledon to broaden distribution of Wimbledon video content. At this year’s tournament, Ooyala will deliver video-on-demand featuring highlights from each day’s matches, interviews and special features. Ooyala will utilize advanced video monetization tools to promote premiere tournament sponsors, including Rolex and Evian, within the video player.
Social sports app SportsYapper has officially launched as a means to provide a second screen experience for fans. The app looks to connect friends and fans around the globe while they’re watching a game, with features that include: the ability to check in to any game you’re watching and to invite your friends on SportsYapper, Twitter and Facebook to Yapp it with you; share Yapps on Facebook and Twitter and Follow sport and team streams.
