The NHL and the NHL Players’ Association are set to meet once again with the hopes of ending a standoff. This time, however, the two organizations will be on the same side, when they meet on Thursday and Friday with the IOC in order to find a way to let players participate in the 2014 Sochi Olympics, according to The Globe and Mail. The report states that owners and players are looking for the IOC and IIHF to grant “access to players’ and NHL teams’ regular doctors, insurance, a cut of the revenue they bring in and the schedule regarding both Olympic participation and other international competition.”
The NCAA released its annual college football attendance report, noting that in 2012, nearly 49 million fans attended college football games. Among FCS teams, Appalachian State led attendance for the fifth time in six years with an average of 26,358 fans per game. Other schools in the division that broke the 20,000 mark included Montana, James Madison University and Old Dominion.
