Upcoming FS1 series Golden Boy Live! has its premiere plans in place, with FOX Sports revealing that the debut episode will launch on Aug. 19 with a tripleheader headlined by Danny Jacobs (25-1, 21 KOs) vs. Giovanni Lorenzo (32-5, 24 KOs) for the vacant WBC Continental Americas middleweight title. The co-main event showcases undefeated Eddie Gomez (14-0, 9 KOs) and Steve Upsher Chambers (24-2, 6 KOs). The final fight on the televised card includes 2012 U.S. Olympian Marcus Browne (5-0, 5 KOs), who will face an opponent who has yet to be determined. Golden Boy Live! is locked in for 24 boxing events over the next year on FS1.
ESPN’s stop at TCA saw some insights into ESPN2’s much-hyped last night series Olbermann. At the panel, host Keith Olbermann stated that politics would be on the table when they inject themselves into sports. In addition, he stated that he would be bringing “Worst Person in the Sports World” segment to the new show. The network also revealed its fall lineup for the 30 for 30 slate of documentaries, which will return on Oct. 1. Films are set to include “Hawaiian: The Legend of Eddie Aikau,” “Free Spirits,” “No Mas”-a look at the Sugar Ray Leonard-Roberto Duran fights, “Big Shot,” a focus on Jimmy Conners in “this is What They Want” and “Tonya and Nancy.”
Tennis Channel announced plans to cover all nine tournaments in this summer’s Emirates Airline US Open Series, which begins today and runs through Saturday, Aug. 24. The network will offer up around 120 live or first-run match hours from the men’s and women’s competitions that make up the five-week hard-court season leading up to the US Open in late August. Overall, including encore broadcasts, the network is programming over 300 hours to the series. Lindsay Davenport, Justin Gimelstob, Rennae Stubbs and Mark Knowles will offer analysis during the series, with Leif Shiras taking on play-by-play.
Pac-12 Networks unveiled its talent lineup for the 2013 college football season. Rick Neuheisel, Ronnie Lott, Jeremy Bloom, Glenn Parker and Curtis Conway along with former USC assistant coach Yogi Roth will come back for their second season as part of Pac-12 Networks football analyst team. Meanwhile, former NFL and University of Iowa defensive lineman Anthony Herron joins the crew as a game analyst. Broadcast teams are set with Ted Robinson/Glenn Parker, Kevin Calabro/Yogi Roth, Roxy Bernstein/Anthony Herron and JB Long/Jeremy Bloom in the booth.
Speaking of college football, Big Ten Commissioner Jim Delany echoed calls from other “Big 5″ commissioners to create major changes to the NCAA. At the league’s media day, Delany called for a new model to the governing body and noted that he thinks changes could arrive within a year.
A familiar face will be missing from the UFC 163 PPV, according to FUEL TV, with color commentator Joe Rogan missing his first PPV in almost two years due to a scheduling conflict. Taking on microphone duties will be retired UFC middleweight Brian Stann.
Continuing the MMA theme, Ronda Rousey’s star continues to shine with the UFC fighter apparently locked in for a role in Sylvester Stallone’s Expendables 3. Stallone announced the news on Twitter, stating the Rousey and Victor Ortiz were joining the franchise.
Golf Channel brings back In Play with Jimmy Roberts on Tuesday, July 30 at 10:30p with the monthly series with topics that include a report from Stone Phillips on golf course water usage and prevention as well as a look at wine-making pro golfers and what happened on a recent peace mission to Israel .

Big Ten Network announced that BTN2Go, the network’s website and smartphone/tablet app became the first TV Everywhere service of an ad-supported network available to” virtually its entire viewer base.” BTN2Go subscribers can access the service on four platforms: via the internet and on iPad, iPhone and Android devices.
ESPN continued its drive to determine the Ultimate Team for EA Sports’ NCAA Football 14 fan vote, with the semifinals down to four teams. Nebraska, Auburn, Florida State and Miami. The Ultimate Team winner will be revealed on Tuesday, August 6.
With Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment President and CEO Tim Leiweke now entrenched, the executive announced a corporate restructuring of the company designed to streamline operations. Senior leadership will consist of Tom Anselmi as Chief Operating Officer, Ian Clarke as Chief Financial Officer, David Hopkinson as Chief Commercial Officer, Peter Miller as Chief Legal and Development Officer and Bob Hunter as Chief Facilities and Live Entertainment Officer. Under the new structure, “expanded portfolios will be given to a group of the company’s next generation of leaders within Hopkinson’s team as the company focuses on streamlined communication and interaction with its fans.” Shannon Hosford will serve as Vice President, Marketing and Communications; Jeff Deline as Vice President, Global Partnerships and Tom Pistore as Vice President, Ticket Sales and Service.
