Hitmaker Ryan Murphy (Glee, American Horror Story) inked a 5-year deal with Netflix. Murphy’s agreement with 21st Century Fox expires this summer. “The history of this moment is not lost on me,” said Murphy. “I am a gay kid from Indiana who moved to Hollywood in 1989 with $55 in savings in my pocket, so the fact that my dreams have crystallized and come true in such a major way is emotional and overwhelming to me.” Netflix, which signed Shonda Rhimes (Scandal) to a $100 million deal in August, has said it expects to spend up to $8 billion on content this year.
TNT ordered a late night-themed pilot for Naked with Niecy Nash. It’s an expansion of the net’s relationship with Nash, who stars in Claws, renewed for season three, and a co-production between Turner’s Studio T and Telepictures, and Nash’s production company, Chocolate Chick.
