Charlie Rose accused of sexual harassment

Charlie Rose, co-anchor of CBS This Morning and host of PBS’s Charlie Rose the Week, has been accused of sexual misconduct by 8 women, the Washington Post reports. The women, age 21-37, either worked for Rose’s PBS show or aspired to between the late 1990s and 2011, said the Post, when they were subjected to unwanted sexual advances that included Rose making lewd phone calls, walking around naked and groping. “It is essential that these women know I hear them and that I deeply apologize for my inappropriate behavior,” responded Rose. “I am greatly embarrassed. I have behaved insensitively at times, and I accept responsibility for that, though I do not believe that all of these allegations are accurate. I always felt that I was pursuing shared feelings, even though I now realize I was mistaken…. All of us, including me, are coming to a newer and deeper recognition of the pain caused by conduct in the past, and have come to a profound new respect for women and their lives.” CBS said it is suspending Rose while it looks into the allegations, and PBS has halted production of his talk show.
