NEW YORK – Game Show Network, the leader in game shows and competitive entertainment, announced today its new programming, as part of the network’s 2019 Upfronts, with a focus and commitment to the consistency of strip programming with a high volume of new and popular originals. Game Show Network has greenlit two new strip series, BEST EVER TRIVIA SHOW and a reboot of CATCH 21. The network’s other new addition COMMON KNOWLEDGE hosted by Joey Fatone (*NSYNC, “My Big Fat Greek Wedding”), which launched in January 2019 to become the most-watched show among total viewers[i], has been picked up following its successful debut. CAROLINE & FRIENDS, hosted by actor, comedian Caroline Rhea (“Sabrina The Teenage Witch”) also returns for a second season. Other returning series include the highly successful AMERICA SAYS, hosted by actor and Emmy®-nominated game show host John Michael Higgins (“Great News,” “Pitch Perfect”) for its third season and is currently the No. 1 show on the network among W25-54[ii], as well as short-form sweepstakes program GAME SHOW NETWORK DAILY DRAW hosted by Trish Suhr.
The announcement of new programming follows yet another strong year for Game Show Network, which saw the adding of nearly 14 million new viewers to its air[iii]. Additionally, the popularity of the network’s programming continues to be reflected on its social media platforms, with Game Show Network enjoying a 23% increase in followers over the previous year[iv].
“Game Show Network has more than tripled its original programming output over the last few seasons, and we are introducing an even larger slate of originals in 2019,” said Fran Shea, executive vice president, programming and marketing for Game Show Network. “We have dedicated viewers who see us as their leave-on channel for family-friendly escapist fun and games, and we are committed to entertaining them with a consistent viewer experience.”
“In a crowded space, our story is unique. We are experiencing growth in metrics that seem unlikely given today’s landscape,” added John Zaccario, executive vice president, ad sales for Game Show Network. “This coupled with an audience composed of prolific consumers, makes Game Show Network an attractive option for advertisers.”
Additional announcements include:
Game Show Network will debut a new original series this year: BEST EVER TRIVIA SHOW, scheduled for the spring. In BEST EVER TRIVIA SHOW, three contestants face off against three Trivia Experts. The winning player then goes head-to-head against the Expert with the highest score in the final round – the ultimate trivia challenge. The Expert is asked six multiple choice questions and if the player gets one or more correct answers than the Expert, the player wins $10,000 and take his or her spot in trivia history. BEST EVER TRIVIA SHOW is produced by Game Show Enterprises, LLC for Game Show Network. Brennan Huntington serves as executive producer.
CATCH 21 is a fast-action series blending pop trivia with the tension-filled excitement of the classic card game, 21. Dealing out larger-than-life playing cards, the host quizzes contestants with general-knowledge questions as they attempt to build the closest hand to 21. Part knowledge, part nerve, and part strategy, every correct answer is a chance to add a card and build a better hand or pass the card and “bust” the competition. In addition, every correct answer gives a player control of the deck and the option of “freezing” their hand to protect themselves from being “busted” later in the round. Putting a familiar twist on a classic game, players match wits and put victory on the line in every round with the turn of a card and the next correct answer. Created and executive produced by Merrill Heatter (“Hollywood Squares” and “High Rollers”), CATCH 21 is produced by Game Show Enterprises, LLC for Game Show Network. Scott Sternberg and Merrill Heatter Productions, Inc. serve as executive producers.
Among the shows returning to Game Show Network with new seasons in 2019 are the survey-matching game show AMERICA SAYS, hosted by John Michael Higgins (“Great News,” “Pitch Perfect”), the knowledge-based game show, COMMON KNOWLEDGE, hosted by Joey Fatone (*NSYNC, “My Big Fat Greek Wedding”), the comedic, family-friendly and newly titled series CAROLINE & FRIENDS: THE GAME hosted by Caroline Rhea (“Sabrina The Teenage Witch”), and the short-form sweepstakes program GAME SHOW NETWORK DAILY DRAW hosted by comedian Trish Suhr.

For example: “Is it okay to take off your shoes on a commercial flight?” “Do you have to accept your boss’s Facebook friend request?” “Is it ok to use your neighbor’s Wi-Fi if it’s not password protected?” Over the course of three rounds, contestants will answer questions, earn points, and learn some Mannerz. The contestant with the most points after three rounds will win $1,000, and advance to the Lightning Round for a chance to take home an additional $10,000. MANNERZ is produced by Game Show Enterprises, LLC for Game Show Network. Spike Feresten and John Stevens of Hanger 56 Media are executive producers.
CRAZY AWKWARD LOVE GAME
From the hilarious and inventive mind of Executive Producer Howie Mandel comes CRAZY AWKWARD LOVE GAME, a new dating show that takes blind dates to a whole new level. Three potential suitors are vying for a date with our irresistible bachelor/bachelorette but instead of asking those slightly uncomfortable, personal “getting to know you” questions of their potential dates, they’ll have to get all that information from someone else…their family members! They’ll be faced with sassy Grandmas, kid siblings, crazy Aunts and tough Dads and after two rounds, will have to decide who to go on a date with based solely on the family member’s answers. We’ll also have cameras backstage to capture the slightly uncomfortable but highly hilarious reactions of the dates so we can see their reactions as their loved ones are embarrassing them on TV in the name of love. The show is produced by Critical Productions, LLC. Executive Producers are Tom Forman of Critical Productions, LLC and Howie Mandel of Alevy Productions, Inc. Pat Bullard and Bob Ettinger also serve as executive producers.
TUG OF WORDS
From the minds behind the U.S. version of “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire” comes TUG OF WORDS, a fast-paced trivia/word game that pits teams against each other to see who can spell out the most winning words. The game works like this: one player from each team of three players will step up to the podium where a short word is onscreen in front of them. The host will then read a trivia question whose answer is just one letter different from the word onscreen. The first player to buzz in with the correct answer banks the points and then it’s the next two players turn. The pace is fast and furious as the teams answer questions in order to “pull” the cash prize marker further and further into their team’s zone for a bigger payout. The team that manages to bank the most cash after 3 rounds of gameplay heads to a bonus round for an opportunity to earn an even bigger cash prize. TUG OF WORDS is produced by Embassy Row, LLC for Game Show Network. Michael Davies serves as executive producer.
Launched in 1993, Puzzler is a pop culture crossword puzzle that has become one of People Magazine’s most popular features over the past 25 years. On each episode of PEOPLE PUZZLER, our lucky contestants will put their pop culture knowledge to the test to complete iconic PEOPLE PUZZLER crosswords. The contestant with the most money banked after 2 rounds will move on to the Lightning Round where they will have the opportunity to win a huge cash prize. The show is produced by Four M Studios for Game Show Network. Executive Producers are Bruce Gersh and Robert Balthazar. Scott St. John and Neal Konstantini of Start Entertainment, LLC also serve as executive producers.
