Sony’s Crackle is teaming up with Robert Downey Jr.‘s production company, Team Downey, for a new docu-series called Playing It Forward. The venture showcases spontaneous street music performances from major artists that benefit charities of the player’s choice: the first episode, starring John Legend in Los Angeles, aired last Wednesday night. Additional episodes will be announced at a later date.
Microsoft unveiled its new TV and movie VOD service, Xbox Video, on Wednesday. The package offers current and older TV and film titles, including Netflix series House of Cards, which can be streamed on Microsoft devices Xbox 360, Xbox One and the Windows Phone app. The Verge reports the service was supposed to simultaneously launch with the new console a couple of weeks ago, but problems with mobile version caused delays.
Conde Nast Entertainment’s digital video network will be in partnership with Roku to bring its content to the device for free. CNE’s seven channels, comprised of video from Vogue, GQ and Wired, are available now; future offerings, including the next Epicurious, will be presented on Roku the same day they will premiere on the web.
Capcom will in introduce its new web series Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist in early 2014, the company said last week. Live action and based on the Street Fighter franchise, the show’s distributor has not yet been named, but the rights were sold to a “major global online network,” according to VideoInk. Word is that the honors will go to Machinima’s YouTube network.
Comedy Central‘s CC: Studios released the first trailer for its new web series, Strong Island, on Wednesday. The show follows two brothers living on Long Island, and is one of six web series the network is planning for the coming year. Strong Island premieres Dec. 6; the trailer can be watched at the CC: Studios site and its YouTube channel.
NBC’s Meet The Press will now produce weekly text interviews on the show’s Twitter feed, called #TweetThePress. Show host David Gregory told USA Today that the Twitter interview will be used to integrate audience questions and foster conversation as the show is airing.
AdWeek revealed the top ten most-watched and highest VidIQ rated for YouTube brand videos from the week of Nov. 17-23, measured by significant views and share increases data conducted by the company VidIQ.

Pinterest’s mobile user-base grew 50 percent this year and 75 percent of its usage is now on a mobile device, according to new research from social media marketing analytics company Piqora. The study, which surveyed more than 1,000 brands, also found that a Pin boosts sales of an item by 78 cents. That’s because each pin on average is re-pinned ten times, rendering it 100 times more viral than Twitter’s tweets.

Machinima has officially hired a new president. Stephan Stemprevivo will replace Philip DeBevoise, who left the company in late October. Stemprevivo joined Machinima six months ago, but has just assumed the role as president and general manager. Machinima is still searching for a new chairman and CEO to replace Allen DeBevoise after he leaves at the end of this month.
