The Job

·       Reporting to the Sr. Director of Measurement Innovation the Portfolio Custom Research Manager will help develop and implement a suite of research tools designed to measure, inform and evangelize Turner’s suite of non-traditional advertising products such as Advanced Television, Custom Content and Social distribution

·       Research will primarily focus on outcome/sales lifts, but will also include traditional brand lift, behavioral impact and research designed for guiding/validating the design of custom content

·       The SMPCR will manage custom research projects throughout the study life stage – from feasibility and set-up to creation of research deliverables and insights

·       The SMPCR will also be responsible for tracking and aggregating the body of custom research executed by the Portfolio research team as well as across the Turner Ad Sales Research organization

·       In partnership with the Sr. Director, the SMPCR will be tasked with creating quarterly custom research recaps to be shared with management across the Research, Sales, Marketing and Product organizations

·       The SMPCR’s level of skill for developing insights should enable them to utilize both syndicated and primary data sources, and their experience with evaluating brands and communications channels should empower them to deliver actionable insights, and from those, draw direct implications that guide the media planning and strategic process for Turner clients

The Day-to-Day

·       The PCRM will work across the Turner portfolio to execute methodologically sound research solutions that illustrate the impact of Turner advertising campaigns in relation to other advertising tactics

·       Research will include attitudinal brand lift, behavioral impact and sales ROAS studies

·       The PCRM will develop strong relationships with sales, marketing, ad operations, revenue, and data science teams across the company

·       Managing and tracking custom research projects from start to finish

·       Clearly articulating hypotheses, insights, conclusions and recommendations from your analyses

·       Developing case studies and macro-level analyses from ongoing and completed analyses

·       In partnership with Sr. Director, creating a Turner POV on third party data and measurement providers to guide decisions on engagements and build the Turner Research team’s overall expertise and capabilities around custom research techniques, tools and best practices


·       Working knowledge of the custom research landscape, including but not limited to vendors associated with MTA, Sales Attribution, Location Analytics, Web Traffic, Search Engagement, Social Engagement and Attitudinal/Behavioral lifts

·       Be a master of herding cats – that is, to be able to track down relevant information from multiple teams/disciplines in order to execute a research project

·       Capable of working successfully within a team as well as independently – Possess exceptional project management skills including the ability to prioritize tasks and manage up

·       Experience with conducting ad effectiveness research on Digital, Mobile, and OTT a plus

·       Experience working with social analytics and listening tools (Facebook Insights, YouTube Analytics, Crimson Hexagon, Netbase, Tubular, ListenFirst, Shareablee, etc.) a plus

·       Experience with creative efficacy research a plus
