FOX Sports continues to roll out talent for the launch of FS1, announcing on-air personalities yesterday for upcoming flagship series FOX Sports Live. The news, opinion and highlights program will see Charissa Thompson, NBA great Gary Payton and former NFL stars Donovan McNabb and Ephraim Salaam join tennis legend Andy Roddick behind the microphone to tackle issues of the day starting Saturday, Aug. 17 at 11p. In addition to the panel, hosted by Thompson, the series will be anchored by Jay Onrait and Dan O’Toole.
Turner Sports opened the books on its coverage of the 95th PGA Championship from August 8-11 with TNT set to carry 18 hours of live action including six hours each day on Thursday and Friday, Aug. 8-9, from 1-7p as well as the third and fourth rounds on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 10-11, from 11a-2p. Ernie Johnson hosts with analysts Ian Baker-Finch and Billy Kratzert and reporter Vince Cellini. Production is slate to include the TNT Total Motion slo-mo camera, virtual tours of the course, and the TNT Pro Tracer the shows the flight of the ball for select shots live during play.
NFL Network announced a pair of new hires including Emmy Award-winning sports reporter Jenn Brown who will host NFL Total Access throughout the year as well as serve a variety of other roles for the network. Brown joins NFL Network after eight years at ESPN as a reporter and host. Veteran NFL reporter Judy Battista signed on as part of NFL Media where she will file multiple stories per week on NFL.com to be used across all NFL Media platforms. Additionally, Battista will appear on NFL Network on a several shows. Battista joins NFL Media after almost 15 years with the New York Times.
Wednesday night’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race from Eldora delivered SPEED with a 1.2 Nielsen household score, marking the 10th most-watched Trucks race ever on SPEED with 1.4 million total viewers tuning in. In addition, the race was the most watched sports program of the day on cable.
ABC showcases The Boost Mobile WNBA All-Star Game 2013 for Saturday, July 27, at 3:30p. Ryan Ruocco will call the matchup with analyst Rebecca Lobo and reporter Holly Rowe. ESPN3 – and via the ESPN3 player on espnW.com – will stream team practices on Friday, July 26, from 3-5p with audio from microphones worn by the two All-Star head coaches.
ONE World Sports is adding even more European soccer to the mix, locking in rights to air delayed soccer matches of English soccer powerhouse Arsenal FC along with exclusive player and manager interviews. The deal follows similar agreements between the channel and German soccer team FC Bayern Munich and English powerhouse Chelsea FC. ONE World Sports has acquired all North American rights to the three teams’ programming and will include these telecasts in a soon-to-be-debuted mobile app.
NBC Sports Network announced that Wednesday, July 31 will see the debut of Shark Hunters, a new 60-minute outdoor fishing show featuring “three, long-standing East Coast shark tournaments and five captains pitted against each other to catch the heaviest shark.” The six-part series premieres at 9p and will be followed by a second episode at 10p. Episodes three through six will air on consecutive Wednesday nights at 10p through August 28.
Speaking of the hunt, Sportsman Channel’s premiere of Meet the McMillans on Sunday will see MMA legend Randy Couture and Tom McMillan hook up for an elk hunt in New Mexico before returning to Vegas for training. The episode airs at 8:30p.
ESPN Audio announced plans to broadcast 25 regular-season college football matchups this season, including the Dr. Pepper ACC Championship Game and the Pac-12 Championship game. The new season kicks off on Thursday, Aug., 29, at 4p with a special two-hour kickoff special followed by North Carolina/South Carolina and culminate on Saturday, Dec. 7, with the ACC and Pac-12 Championship games. All regular season and championship games will be available on ESPN Radio with Bill Rozinski calling the action alongside David Norrie as analyst.
The NASL Board of Governors unanimously approved expansion franchise bids for Jacksonville and Oklahoma City team to join the North American Soccer League for the 2015 Spring Season. The NASL Board received presentations from groups representing four prospective expansion cities as part of two days of meetings being held in Dallas, Texas.

Jerry Jones made it official, announcing a new sponsorship deal that will give Cowboys Stadium a new name. The newly dubbed moniker AT&T Stadium takes place immediately with the deal including access to AT&T mobile technology.
With Timex out of the picture, the New York Giants locked in an agreement with Quest Diagnostics to rename the team’s headquarters and training facility as the Quest Diagnostics Training Center. The deal also includes an alliance to “find new ways to use laboratory diagnostic information services to improve the health and performance of athletes of all ages and abilities through a new collaboration.”
The 2014 Special Olympics USA Games announced that AmeriHealth New Jersey has signed on as a Silver Level Partner for the 2014 USA Games and will be the Presenting Sponsor of the Aquatics Competition at DeNunzio Pool on the Princeton University campus. MLB Network’s edition of Intentional Talk on Wednesday, which offered fans had a chance to produce the show by submitting tweets, videos, and photos via the @IntentionalTalk Twitter feed, was a big hit on social media for the channel. The special episode received 5,390 tweets, a 45% increase compared to the most recent regular programming week on MLB Network. @IntentionalTalk also increased its followers by 55% in week-to-week comparisons.
Yahoo! Sports launched its 2013 Fantasy Sports app, featuring a new redesign and mobile drafting. Managers can now sign up, draft a team and win their league championship from their iOS and Android device via technology incorporated by Bignoggins Production, Loki Studios and the Yahoo! Sports mobile team. For the first time ever, all of Yahoo! Sports Fantasy games will now live under one mobile roof the Yahoo! Sports Fantasy app including basketball, hockey and baseball.
