Cynopsis: Kids!
04/06/12

Good morning. It’s Friday, April 6, 2012, and this your first early morning briefing.

Hasbro Studios, the LA-based TV production and distribution arm of Hasbro, inks a multi-year deal with Netflix for its content across multiple platforms in the US.  Under the new deal, ten franchises, including new and catalog season of Hasbro content, will be available to view instantly via Netflix. The Hasbro content will be available on Netflix and included in the Netflix Just For Kids section. Transformers Prime, My Little Pony, Pound Puppies, G.I. Joe: Renegades and The Adventures of Chuck & Friends are now available to instantly watch on Netflix. Additionally, JEM & The Holograms, Transformers: Generation 1, G.I. Joe: Real American Heroes, Transformers: Beast Wars and Transformers: Rescue Bots will be available beginning later this year.

Turner Broadcasting will officially launch its K7-11 targeted virtual world Toonix (www.toonix.com) across EMEA beginning next week. Initially, Toonix had a soft beat launch in the UK earlier this year and currently has upwards of 300,000 registered users so far. Toonix is a free site, once the user has registered, and encourages kid users to “Be Whoever You Want To Be” by creating and customizing their own avatars and rooms, chat with friends (sending pre-selected messages and send gifts and stickers) and play games and complete missions  during which they can earn XP and coins redeemable for virtual goods and access to new areas on the site. Toonix is divided into three game play worlds – MyWorld, Games World and Shopping World. There is also a Training World, where kids can learn how to navigate the virtual world. Built into Toonix World will be advertising and sponsorship opportunities, including branded virtual goods, pop up stores, posters, costumes and discount vouchers. In most regions, the site will be accessible from Cartoon Network websites across EMEA. Some regions will link to Toonix from Boomerang. That said, Toonix is a standalone destination in its own right. Toonix originally launched in Latin America in 2008 where it has 13+ million registered users. The EMEA wide version of Toonix was created by Atticmedia.
