Early next year, ABC premieres new reality competition series Troupe Star that honors America's veterans and active-duty servicemen and women. The one-hour series, from 5 Streams Global Entertainment, debuts January 12 at 8p and will air for eight consecutive weeks, concluding with a two-hour finale on March 2. Trifecta Entertainment & Media will handle all ad sales and sponsorship integrations for the series.
Big Brother was handed a 15th edition renewal by CBS to return on air next summer. This current summer's edition of Big Brother has averaged 6.79 million total viewers and averaged a 2.5/8 with A18-49 and a 3.0/8 among A25-54. Big Brother is executive produced by Emmy Award-winning producer Allison Grodner and Rich Meehan for Fly on the Wall Entertainment, in association with Endemol U.S.A.
CBS will telecast the People's Choice Awards live on January 9 at 9p from the Nokia Theater L.A. Live. Producer Mark Burnett resumes his role as executive producer of the show.
The 2012 NCLR ALMA Awards, celebrating Latinos in entertainment will air across NBC, Telemundo, Telemundo.com, mun2 and mun2.tv. NBC Universal announced yesterday Honda will become a first-time, multi-platform sponsor of the event which opens Hispanic Heritage month. The event will air on NBC this Friday at 8p with an encore airing on mun2 this Saturday.
This Sunday, Teaching Channel Presents returns to public television stations with new weekly one-hour episodes focused on issues facing educators todays. The series launched last year was designed to go inside classrooms and showcase inspiring teaching practices across America. The second season opens Sunday at 5a on WLIW WORLD; September 29 at 6a on THIRTEEN; 9a on WLIW21; and 1p on NJTV (check local listings). Teaching Channel Presents is presented by WLIW21 in association with WNET, parent company of WLIW21, THIRTEEN and the operator of NJTV.
Anthology horror series Tales from the Crypt makes a comeback to TV via FEARNet beginning October 5. FEARnet will air the program on its linear channel as well as make original episodes available on its VOD platform starting October 10. This marks the first time the series will be back on network television since 2004 when it was previously syndicated. FEARnet will air Tales from the Crypt on Friday nights in a two-hour block from 10p to midnight in addition to re-airing the episodes on Mondays in the same time period. All 93 produced episodes will air on FEARnet, running in order beginning with season one through season seven.
A tenth season of Top Chef will be served up this fall by Bravo as Top Chef: Seattle debuts November 7 at 10p. Chef and restaurateur Wolfgang Puck joins the show as judge for the upcoming season along with Tom Colicchio, Gail Simmons, Hugh Acheson and Emeril Lagasse and Padma Lakshmi returns as host. Produced by Magical Elves, Top Chef: Seattle watches as 21 chef'testants compete for the title and prizes including $125,000 provided by Healthy Choice, a feature in Food & Wine magazine and a showcase at the Annual Food & Wine Classic in Aspen.
Travel Channel handed renewals to four original series. Baggage Battles, Hotel Impossible, Toy Hunter and Trip Flip all received production orders for second seasons. Toy Hunter, from Sharp Entertainment further gained six more new episodes for its current run including a holiday special to air in December. Baggage Battles produced by MY Tupelo Entertainment, debuts November 14 at 8p and has begun production on 14 half-hour episodes. Hotel Impossible from Atlas Media Corp., premieres December 3 at 10p and has commenced filming on 13 new one-hour eps. Trip Flip, produced by High Noon has also started production on its new order of 13 half-hour eps which will air in 2013. Furthermore, Travel Channel handed Bizarre Foods America with Andrew Zimmern produced by Tremendous! Entertainment a seventh season slated to return in 2013.
Daniel Tosh's series, Tosh.0 received a season renewal pickup from Comedy Central. The network upped the episode order to 30 with a planned January 2013 premiere.

Spanish-language news cable network CNN en Espanol is teaming with Stardome Radio Networks. The deal allows Stardome Radio Networks to distribute the CNN en Espanol Radio Network daily and hourly news briefs, Ahoras, via 85 radio stations in the top US markets including New York, Los Angeles, Miami, San Antonio, Dallas and Washington, D.C. among others. Presently, Stardome Radio Networks news affiliates reach more than 52% of the US Hispanic radio audience and the company expects to reach 75% of the market by the end of this month utilizing the CNN en Espanol news product.
Rive Gauche Television acquired the unscripted true crime series, Homicide Hunter which airs in the US on Investigation Discovery. The one-hour series with 16 episodes is produced by Jupiter Entertainment.

FX Productions made a two-year deal with Paul Giamatti, Dan Carey and their production company, Touchy Feely Films for a first-look production deal. Touchy Feely Films will develop series projects exclusively for cable television.
Veria Living announced its production expansion into more original programming with a plan of airing 300+ hours of new shows between now and the end of first quarter 2013. 200+ hours of additional original programming will be completed by the end of this month. To this end, Veria Living approved two primetime pilots as well as renewed Yogi Cameron: A Model Guru for a second season with 13 one-hour episodes. The two new pilots are: Fat Family Rescue (wt), a show that will transform an obese family both physically and emotionally. Produced by Nancy Glass Productions, 13 hours including the one-hour pilot have been ordered. The second new pilot project is Ambush Make Under (wt) with a one-hour pilot and 12 more hours from Banyan Productions. This show strips away the excess and reveals the simple, natural beauty inside every woman.
Independent production company, Atlas Media Corp. entered into an agency representation deal with Creative Artists Agency (CAA). Atlas Media is currently involved in more than twelve production projects including Hotel Impossible for Travel Channel and Stalked: Someone's Watching for Investigation Discovery.
Gilles Marini was upped to series regular for the second season of ABC Family's drama series Switched at Birth. Marini portrayed Angelo Sorrento, Bay's biological father and Regina's ex as a recurring role during season one. Season two of Switched at Birth will premiere on the network in early 2013. The fall leg of the first season is currently airing on Mondays at 8p.
Former Sopranos star James Gandolfini may be starring in a pilot for HBO. The premium cable network gave pilot order to Criminal Justice, an adaptation of a BBC crime drama from Peter Moffat. The drama will follow a guy, who after a night of partying with a stranger, wakes up to find her stabbed to death and is charged with her murder. Gandolfini would star as Jack Stone, a downtrodden jailhouse attorney for hangs out at police stations looking for clients. Steven Zaillian will co-write the pilot and direct with Richard Price attached to co-write. HBO will executive produce the project in association with BBC Worldwide Productions. Filming on the pilot will happen this fall in New York.

Tuesday A18-49 Analysis: NBC hit the right note with A18-49 viewers Tuesday with a 3.1/9, according to final primetime national ratings from Nielsen. At 8p, NBC's The Voice won at 4.7/14 with Univision trailing in second place with Por Ella Soy Eva at 1.7/5. NBC's new comedies Go On and The New Normal led at 9p at an average of 2.8/8 and Univision was once again in second place with Abismo de Pasion at 2.0/5. NBC ended the night still on top as Parenthood posted a 1.8/5 during 10p while ABC's 20/20 Special Edition was a close #2 at 1.7/5.

Veria Living elevated Elizabeth Browde to SVP/Head of Programming up from VP/Head of Programming. Elizabeth will oversee the multiplatform media company's production expansion into more original programming.
Cynthia Klar was appointed as VP/Sales and Operations with NBCUniversal Cable & New Media Distribution where she reports to Phyllis Bagdadi, SVP/Non-Theatrical Sales. Cynthia will continue to manage the sales of NBCU's television roster including Comcast's content to worldwide airlines and the non-theatrical market encompassing cruise ships, colleges, schools and the Armed Forces. She will additionally handle the distribution of feature films from Universal Pictures and Focus Features to clients worldwide.
Sean Finnegan takes on the new position as Chief Strategy Officer with music and entertainment network Akoo. The company is also expanding its sales teams based in New York, Los Angeles and Chicago. In his new role, Sean will work directly with Akoo Founder and CEO Niko Drakoulis to whom he will report.
Effective immediately, Jeff Hesano joins Eagle Television Sales, a division of Katz Television Group as the Office Manager for the Detroit office.
