Cynopsis: Multi-Cultural & International Edition
11/29/06

Good Morning.  It's Wednesday, November 29, 2006, and this is your first early morning Multi-Cultural briefing.

HISPANIC MARKET:

Telemundo Communications Group has acquired full ownership of Telemundo-RTI Productions to create Telemundo Studios Miami, LLC. Telemundo will also purchase the operating assets of its current foreign distributor, Tepuy International Corp. and will create an in-house international division, called Telemundo Internacional. Telemundo Studios Miami will continue to develop and produce novelas and other content for Telemundo Network, as well as seek opportunities to produce for other broadcasters in Latin America. The new Telemundo Internacional has been created to bring all of Telemundo's foreign distribution efforts in-house.  Executive Moves related to the new studio are outlined below.

Telemundo's LA station KWHY (Channel 22) will launch a new TV show from Pepe & Elmer Media, Inc. called Zona 22 on November 30 at 2p.  The 60-minute Spanish-language daily program will feature artist interviews, music videos and on-location entertainment segments, focusing mainly on regional Mexican music with a bit of Spanish-language pop music mixed in.  Erika Garza and Kaiman will host with Luis Barreto as the show's exec producer and Juan-Carlos Duran, Alejandro Blanco and Oskar F. Salas as producers.

TeleFutura was the #2 most-watched Spanish-language broadcast network in primetime (M-Sun 7-11p) for the entire week of November 20 across the key adult and men demos, and K2-11 demos.  The network brought in a 513,000 Adults 18-49 on average for the week.  In the November 2006 Sweep-to-date (11/2-11/26) comparison to last year's November sweep period (11/3-11/27/05),  Telefutura saw a 40% increase in Total Viewers to 825,000, and +58% in A18-49 to 551,000, according to Nielsen Media Research's NHTI ratings.

LATAM MARKET:

Sistema Brasileiro de Televisao (SBT) has renewed its agreement with Warner for another few years until 2013.  The output deal, first signed in 2000, gives SBT the exclusive terrestrial TV rights to Warner's films, cartoons and TV series.  The Brazilian network already airs Warner fare with 4 primetime series, 18 daily morning cartoons and six weekly movie slots with 60% Warner content according to Variety.

HBO has picked up the Latin American rights to EM.TV's animated series Dogstar, from distributor Comarex. HBO Family Latin America is slated to launch Dogstar in spring 2007.  Produced by EM.TV's Avg. World Pictures Pty Ltd, Dogstar is set in space and follows the adventures of three kids as they search for a treasure chest filled with dogs.

Patricio Wills has been named President/Telemundo Television Studios, moved from his prior position as President/Telemundo-RTI Productions and Head/Production for Telemundo Studios. Upon completion of the purchase of Tepuy International Corp, Marcos Santana, formerly President, COO and founder of Tepuy, will become President/Telemundo Internacional. Both Patricio and Marcos will report directly to Don Browne, President/Telemundo Communications Group.  Patricio will continue to be responsible for leading the studios in-house development as well as all Telemundo production activities in the U.S., Mexico and Colombia. He will work closely with Marcos to develop co-production deals. In his new role, Marcos is charged with overseeing all of the network's content distribution efforts, as well as the company's distribution services to other producers around the world, international co-productions and partnerships. Marcos will continue to be involved in the network's development process including identifying programming ideas and acquiring scripts and formats in the international market.

Young & Rubicam Brands' chairman and CEO, Ann Fudge, has announced that she will retire by the end of this year to pursue non-profit work interests.  Following 2 years after her prior job as division president at Kraft Foods, Ann began her position at Y&R in May 2003 heading up the group, which includes Y&R, Wunderman, Burson-Marsteller, Landor Associates and Sudler & Hennessey.  Y&R has said there are no immediate plans for a successor.

CNBC named Alan Seiffert as SVP/Business Development and Partnerships, Asia Pacific.  In his new position, he will manage the network's business development and partnership unit in the region, including overseeing relations and developing opportunities with CNBC's current Asia Pacific partners and building new strategic partnerships.  Alan comes to CNBC from his previous position as VP/Business Affairs at NBC Universal Television Distribution.  He will be based in Singapore and report to Jeremy Pink, President & Managing Director/CNBC Asia Pacific.
