Cox will be launching the programming on cable systems in San Diego, Las Vegas, Omaha, Oklahoma City, Northern Virginia, Roanoke and Cleveland. The offering will include a minimum of five hours a month of short and long-form programming.  This will include full episodes from its original series Living It Up with Patti LaBelle, Turn Up the Heat with G. Garvin and others. Short segments include celeb interviews, current social, cultural and political topic discussions with Rev. Al Sharpton, gardening and cooking segments and gospel performances from The Gospel of Music with Jeff Majors.

ASIAN/INDIAN MARKET:

KyLinTV has added Macroview Television (Mac TV), a channel about Taiwan targeting Chinese living overseas, to its Chinese entertainment selection.  The 2-year old channel focuses on entertainment, fashion, food, travel and Taiwanese culture content in four regional Chinese languages and English.  Some of the shows include Variety Show Big Brother, Variety Sum-Up, The Voice of Taiwan, Happy Formula and others.

GAY/LESBIAN MARKET:

here! signed a new carriage agreements with Alameda Power and Telecom (Almeda, CA), Bend Broadband (Central Oregon), Guadalupe Valley Communication Systems LP (Texas), Click! Networks (Tacoma, WA) and Canby Telephone Association (Canby, Oregon).

CROSS-MARKET:

Are you ready for the backstage insanity of the 2006 MTV Video Music Awards (VMA)?  MTV will air the event itself on August 31 at 8p while its broadband channel, Overdrive, will air VMA Live: Backstage Uncensored and a slew of other VMA-related content at VMA.MTV.com.  MTV Mobile will offer updates and recaps of the VMAs within minutes.  MyVMAs, a customized experience, will enable viewers to interact with the event itself and through their opinions.  Other MTV networks such as MTV2, MHD: Music High Definition and MTV World's MTV Desi, MTV K, MTV Chi will include a live simulcast while mtvU will feature videos of nominees, performers and presenters who were once regulars on the college channel.

INTERNATIONAL MARKET:

Collegia Capital sold over 90 eps of The Weather Channel's Storm Stories series to Zonemedia for its Zone Reality channels.  The company picked up the cable, satellite, DTT, IP, VOD and mobile licensing rights for Africa, Asia Pacific (excluding Australia), Europe, Ireland, the Middle East and the U.K.

Looks like Little Britain will make its way to the not-so-little U.S. with talks reportedly in progress between HBO and Simon Fuller to adapt the British sketch comedy.  Although the meeting between the two parties has been confirmed, no other details have emerged as of yet according to Variety.

U.K.-based production house, Electric Sky, will be teaming up with VOOM HD Networks to produce two HD series.  The 6-part Art of the Heist, scheduled to air on Gallery HD, takes a look at infamous art heists from around the globe.  Fashion Avenue's season three will debut on Ultra HD in 1Q2007.  Hostess and supermodel Jodie Kidd shows her shopping around the world in this series on VOOM HD Networks' fashion/beauty/style channel.

FremantleMedia won its Peruvian court battle with Panamericana Television.  The copyright ruling states that the Peru-based company did copy the American Idol format with its Superstar show per Variety.  Panamericana Television will have to cough up an unannounced fine amount which also includes FremantleMedia's legal expenses.

The Indian Information and Broadcasting Ministry gave MTV India a slap on the wrist for airing a video they deemed adult material.  The guilty music video was taken from an Indian movie (Aashiq Banaya Aapne / You Made Me a Lover) that was certified as "Adult" by the Central Board of Film Certification.  The punishment?  The network had to broadcast a scrolling message this past weekend that stated its rule violation and the reason behind it (sounds a bit like the repetitive blackboard writing punishments we received in our childhood?).  MTV India decided in the end to also take the music video off heavy rotation according to The Hollywood Reporter.
