INTERNATIONAL MARKET: Telefilm Canada and the Rogers Group of Funds have renewed their 3-year old Theatrical Documentary Program partnership for Canadian documentary filmmakers. The agreement will last until 2011 with a $4.5 million total budget for feature-length documentary film financing ($750,000+ production budgets. The two have already committed to backing up to 3 English-language and 2 French-language projects. Discovery Canada and Pioneer Productions' Journey to the Edge of the Universe CGI co-production with Discovery Canada is being produced for airing in 166 countries, including Canada and the U.S. The 120-minute documentary delves into the world(s) outside of our solar system. The third season of Solitary returns to Fox Reality Channel with Solitary 3.0 currently in pre-production. The all-reality channel pulled in ShineReveille International to handle distribution for the show's format and finished episodes. Amberwood Entertainment's The Secret World of Benjamin Bear is heading over to Poland's HAGI following a deal for the 39x30-minute animated series covering additional European countries. Turner formed a partnership with Taiwan mobile service provider iScreen Corporation to distribute, market and promote Turner's Cartoon Network-branded mobile services to operators in Taiwan. This partnership has already resulted in a major collaboration with Taiwan Mobile, introducing the first Chinese language Cartoon Network mobile site in the territory. The Abu Dhabi Media Company, a media/entertainment corporation, is the first to launch a live broadcasting in high-def service in the Arab world. The company purchased a fleet of vehicles (outside broadcast) for production air throughout the Middle East. HISPANIC MARKET: V-me will present nightly primetime coverage of the Democratic and Republican National Conventions as part of its PARTICIPA 2008. Journalist/anchor Jorge Gestoso will lead the coverage, joined by the V-me Noticias team including Luis Sarmiento and Silvina Sterin-Pensel. The 60-minute primetime specials will begin at 9p with highlights, daily news and interviews with delegates, officials and analysts. V-me Noticias will also expand its newsbreaks at the top of every hour. On Friday following the convention's close, the channel will review the results. A Telemundo series is becoming a part of live internet TV provider TVU Networks' lineup. The channel's Decisiones will be offered internationally, excluding the U.S. and Mexico, per World Screen.
