INTERNATIONAL MARKET: Disney Channel UK is uncovering its new 5x5-minute Undercover Coach series this month in the U.K. In each episode, a British sports star will surprise and mentor young athletes. The show was produced in-house by the network in London, according to Broadcast. The IT Crowd, Modern Toss and Look Around You are the latest Brits crossing the Atlantic following sales by FremantleMedia Enterprises. The Independent Film Channel acquired all three seasons of The IT Crowd for September 29 debut while Modern Toss (season 1 and 2) will launch in 1Q2009. Adult Swim licensed seasons 1 and 2 of Look Around You. Sony Pictures Television International's AXN, which airs in 6 Central European nations, has reached a new subscriber high point with 12 million households. The channel first launched in the region in 2003. In addition, AXN has extended a dedicated feed of the channel into Bulgaria last month. AFRICAN AMERICAN MARKET: In two days time, BET News will launch a new weekly talk show, The Truth with Jeff Johnson, on August 15 at 11p. Hosted by political correspondent Jeff Johnson, the 30-minute show will delve into news, culture, current events and more with an investigative and interview mix. EXECUTIVE MOVES: Eyeworks brought in Tobias Bringholm as MD/Scandinavia to manage and grow business in the region for the company from his base in Stockholm. Tobias is the founder of Red Capital in addition to being Program Director at Sweden's TV4. In addition to expanding its International Digital Media unit, AETN International named two new execs. Christian Murphy is the new VP/International, based in New York. He will manage global brand marketing strategy for AETN across consumer and B2B marketing initiatives for 35 channels in 141 countries, on-air and creative execution, research, and support for AETN's international channel and digital distribution efforts. Christian reports to Sean Cohan, AETN's SVP/International. He was previously GM/Television & Marketing at FOXTEL Management Pty Ltd in Australia. Will Harrison was named as VP/International Business Development and Branded Distribution. Based in London, he will oversee new international business growth while serving as a strategic advisor to AETN's local GMs and regional MDs. In addition, the former VP/Ventures and Business Development at The Walt Disney Company will be responsible for distribution strategy for AETN channel brands in EMEA, Asia and Latin America. He reports to Sean as well. Simon Hutson was named as VP/Digital Media and DVD for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) for BBC Worldwide Sales and Distribution. He will work on long-term strategy development for digital and BBC Worldwide in the EMEA region.
