INTERNATIONAL MARKET: New York's sports/entertainment company IMG Worldwide, Inc. is teaming up with China Central Television (CCTV) to form a multi-sport 20-year joint venture. The new Beijing-based CCTV-IMG Sports Management Company will encompass a trio of duties exclusively creating, developing and promoting sports events and TV and multimedia programming in China as well as Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan following the upcoming Olympics. CCTV Sports' MD and President, Jiang Heping, has been named as CCTV-IMG Sports Management's chairman. Equity fund Valedo inked with ProSiebenSat.1 to acquire Europe's Broadcast Text International subtitling company. With offices in 8 countries, the Stockholm-headquartered company's existing management team with CEO Bjorn Andersson will continue to oversee and develop with support from Valedo. All of Nova Televisia Bulgaria is going to Modern Times Group MTG AB after it inked an agreement with Antenna Group's Antenna Bulgaria to acquire 100% for 620 million euros (approximately $980 million) in cash. The 14-year Nova Televisia Bulgaria owns all of the Bulgarian Nova channel and 80% of the Bulgarian EVA magazine. The buy is, of course, subject to regulatory approval with a closing anticipated in 3 months time. The U.K.'s ZAC Toons is bringing more of Sony Pictures Television International (SPTI) into Asia with a mobile content agreement for Hong Kong, India, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand. ZAC will create animated wallpaper, screensaver and short clip content based on 8 of SPTI's characters to be distributed on the internet and mobile. Another U.K.er, UKTV Food, picked up four shows, including FremantleMedia Enterprises' Kylie Kwong: My China (9x30-minutes), Shine Reveille International's Greatest Dishes in the World (5x60-minutes), SBS Australia's second run of Food Safari's (13x30-minutes) and Filmoption International's Glutton for Punishment (13x30-minutes). BRB Internacional is creating an urban animated series with a hip hop twist as a sketch format to be unveiled at MIPCOM Jr. The Secret Life of Suckers, a Screen 21, Genoma Animation and Televisio de Catalunya co-production, sees life through a car window with the use of plush dolls (Art Toys) ... answering the question about what happens with the toys we leave in our cars when no one else is around. HISPANIC MARKET: Calavera Highway is the latest documentary debut on PBS' P.O.V. indie series airing on September 16 at 10p about the seven sons of a migrant worker and single mother raised on the Texas border and how her death affected them and the relationships with each other. With the July Sweep period ending, Univision came in as the #2 network for all A18-34 for the 27 nights with a #1 spot on 9 of those nights.
