INTERNATIONAL MARKET: Central European Media Enterprises Ltd. is acquiring from Top Tone Media Holdings Limited an 80% interest in two Bulgarian TV channels. The shares in the new TV2 national terrestrial channel and the Ring TV sports cable network are valued at approximately $172 million. The deal is expected to close within 2 weeks. TV Globo International has joined forces with an indie Angolan producer to create Revista Africa, a new Portuguese-language show for its African subscribers. It will start screening in 3Q2008 as a cultural magazine recorded in Angola and Mozambique. In addition to the new program, TV Globo's international signal will be covering the Angolan delegation during the Beijing Olympic Games. NBC Universal, Cookie Jar and Corus Entertainment Inc.'s U.K. channel, KidsCo, has launched on the IMAGENIO Spanish pay TV platform as part of an agreement with Teuve, a local content provider. The U.S. rights to the U.K.'s Freaky and The Peter Serafinowicz Show series were acquired by G4 to air as part of its Duty Free TV block. Six, 30-minute episodes of the latter, a sketch comedy program, will begin airing on August 1 at 830p. As for Freaky, which tails six magicians going out into public, will debut on the network at 9p for an 8-episode run. In Canada, Astral Media's Family Channel is continuing its Family Jams music-themed TV events with Disney Channel Games. More than 50 Disney Channel international stars will take part in rather comical and fun challenges. The miniseries will air in four parts on at 730p from August 1 to August 22 with the Games' closing ceremonies taking place on September 1 at 5p. LATAM MARKET: A new Spanish-language soccer channel, Planeta Futbol, is on its way down the field to Mexican viewers courtesy of Televisa. In addition to Mexican tournaments and other games, the channel will air global soccer content covering the the Spanish Liga Espanola and English Premiere League, among others per Variety. GAY/LESBIAN MARKET: Liberation Entertainment signed a non-exclusive agreement with here! Networks to produce a bunch of Backlot episodes for the 2008/2009 season.
