INTERNATIONAL MARKET: Furthering the distribution of the newly launched international RUSH HD channel, Sweden's NonStop Television AB added the VOOM HD Networks' extreme sports/travel channel to its Nordic and Baltic regions. This will be the companies' second channel agreement with the first being VOOM HD. Indian media group INX Media is taking on the Middle East with the help of Dubai's Media Solutions consultants. Three of the group's channels, 9X (Hindi-language general entertainment), 9XM (music) and NewsX (English-language news), will begin rolling out soon in the Gulf countries. A 180-hour package of BBC Worldwide content will make its way to Kazakhstan's Kahbar Agency broadcaster. The multi-genre deal, coming out of DISCOP, covers shows such as The Other Boleyn Girl, Robin Hood and others, according to World Screen. Britz, produced by Mentorn Media's Daybreak Pictures and distributed by Channel 4 International, has been acquired by BBC America for a November debut. The 2x120-minute series is about a British-born Muslim brother and sister in post-9/11 Britain and their different directions. Media company The Italian American Network debuted several on-demand webisode series shot in high-def at www.ItalianAmericanNetwork.com . The series talks about a variety of subjects such as food and cooking, traveling in Italy to discovering Italian culture here in the U.S. HISPANIC MARKET: ESPN's coverage of the UEFA European Football Championships (Euro 2008) on ESPN Deportes on June 7 brought the Spanish-language network an average 3.5 NHI rating and 123,000 Hispanic cable households. The network has averaged a 2.1 Hispanic rating over the live Euro 2008 matches so far. EXECUTIVE MOVES: Castalia Communications upped Demian Torres-Bohl to Marketing and New Media Director from his prior position as Sales and Marketing Manager. VP/Affiliate Sales and Marketing Andrew Farley made the announcement. Demian will now oversee marketing strategy planning and execution for Castalia, MEXICANAL, AlternaTV, BBCWorld News and other clients in the U.S. and Latin America. He will also be in charge of marketing and public relations for Castalia and MEXICANAL in addition to continuing to manage all businesses related to the Internet and new distribution technologies.
